Only need to find the time to do this.

make sure you keep the roof a light colour, notice all cars have a light coloured roof?
its to make the car have a bigger feeling about it... it actually looks **** (generally) in black

would look really bad...maybe in red suede or leather, but would be too much red. best to contrast it.... have red as a minimum amount, not ur maximum thing...
think feature walls in houses, they are the dominant colour and are about 10-20% of the room, same with 'loud' colours in cars, otherwise it looks horrid
oh and red=bad zen, supposed to make u angry...dont want too much of that in the car!
and wats with the number of ppl wanting to make their cars bright inside lately? yuck :doubt:

black head lining will make your car look smaller on the inside, have you ever been in a house with a black roof inside?
Theres a reason why theres no stock black roof linings (im talking black not charcoal)
go for your life with a black roof lining but you will see what i mean when its done

convertibles have black roof liners and feel small inside - but that could be a combination of colour and actual size. i reckon most redone roofs look tacky or silly - too much of one colour is a bad thing

i dont know i think i would like black when i redo my liner.
magnas (2nd and 3rd gen) are rather large cars so the perception of space isn't important just make sure you use some contranst stiching, something bright and viberant like red or blue, not to sure about white.
just some ideas for you

i agree, i think that may look quite good, im just worried the car may look to dark, but maybe since i will in the future red trims in the door, red parts on the steering, and white and red dials, i think it wont look to bad

also with all that red, try and have ample red neons in foot wells and under the seats as this well help light up the now darker interior (because black doesn't reflect light:doubt: even if it is shine vinyl it wont reflect much)
also if your having a red theme, maybe a red mits logo or something to your taste in the middle?

wat do u mean a red mits badge in the centre???
has anyone got anymore ideas???

when i said the badge or something else like another logo, i mean either with matching vinyl or embroided just think it would look sweet, although alot of work/money

How does vinyl or suede go being stuck to the cardboard??
And did you guys put foam back in it as well or just the cardboard.

i put my suede straight onto the board.
use the lightest material you can. things like vinyl would be a lot more prone to sagging to to their weight.
when i get around to it (and figure out how to get the hoodliner out of the car, because i expect it wont go out of a door), i will be doing it in a thin charcoal material, to blend a little better with the darker grey of the rest of the interior

what material do you suggest???

just repaired mine temporary, I saw vinyl at rubber clarks, but I am just worried about getting it to hold to the current lining so nah.
(and figure out how to get the hoodliner out of the car, because i expect it wont go out of a door)
Yes it will go out the door, just hold it carefully by holding the sides of the liner so it no wider that the door way.It is not easy tho.
oo nice one TN88 :) i might get around to doing this before auto salon then!
as for which fabric to go, anything light and suitable, go hassle an auto trimmer, theyll point you in the right direction :)
if it helps, i finished doing mine the other day, ended up going with Fleece material, very similar to the stock stuff, stretchy, and very easy to work with. cost $10 per meter from spotlight, and only took a light coat of Bostik spray on contact adhesive to apply it with the death grip :)
roof was really quite easy to get out i was surprised, managed to put it back in the car in almost total darkness with success too!
the best way to go about it is to spray it all up, wait for the glue to dry, then get 2 people to pull it firmly (so nothing in the middle touches), and touch it against the 4 outer edges (careful not to pull it too tight, you need reasonable slack to work it into the crevices). then proceed to push it by hand, from the center outwards, you should be totally crease free by the end :)
few pics of the results!

hey man, i don't know about looking bad, dad's just got a VE Calais-V and the roof lining is black. Though he's got the white bottom half, maybe that makes it look bigger or better. I do remeber testing one of the holdens which was ALL black inside and it felt a bit clostrophobic. i rekon if you got a dark colour interior, not the go, but if its light colour, go for it, it'll look mint with light grey or white...
