hey all
i'm new here. i own a TL magna. ES model. Great forum helped me a lot in times of need. however i didnt find answers to my next issue. i got a new set of 6" speakers Clarions 1635 230W.

After i went through a nightmare deck install (kenwood kdc-x7533u) because mitsubishi dont want you to mess with anything under the deck, the way theyve designed the whole thing. Now, the whole door trim needs to be removed to get to the speakers right ???? I'm getting mixed answers from some people. some saying the whole trim including power windows bits and pieces and some saying its only the trim, pretty easy.

Whats the go??

Thanks ahead guys

In my tj it was just the skins. Undid the clip that held the window winder on (don't have power windows) and then popped the skins off.

From other cars I have done installs (well helped do) in with electric windows, the skin comes off as usual and the cables to the power windows controls gets unclipped. Thats the only difference, insted of the window winder coming off, you simplely unplug the elec windows. Can see if being any different for a magna.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Where do you start taking the skin off? As in, is there a clip somewhere thats unclipped or something first or??

There are 3 screws you need to undo:
One in the air vent inside where the door closes, one inside the door handle, and one in the other door handle (not exactly what its called, it's a handle i'd say at least :)).
Then if you have power windows you just pull from the bottom up and it'll all unclip, then you'll need to unclip the power window controls from behind the door trim, unless the actual control for the power windows unclips from the trim.

Ok unclipped
howeevr... it seems to be getting stuck @ internal handle/lock point. i have removed the screw and the whole thing is firmly up against the door its self. not up to the cable unclipping stage yet

After undoing the screw in the handle, have you removed the plastic surround for the handle? The actual lever stays attached to the door and the surround will slide out over it.

Also theres a heap of plugs holding the door trim on, best to get a flathead screwdriver, jam it between the door and the trim and run it around the edge of the trim, particularly the bottom and youll feel em pop out of the holes they re clipped into.

Then its just a matter of yanking in an upwards motion

As Gas_Hed said you need to slide out the surround for the door handle (sorry didn't mention that in my first post).
