Does anyone knoe what fuse protects the dashlights and parkers on the 1992 TR?
I had both stop working after installing a new stereo.
The radio's out now and the stock one's back in but the dash lights and parkers are still out.
I've looked for the fuse but can't find any that are blown.

There's one on the power wire connected to the headunit and there's one in the engine bay.
Is your interior light out as well? I think that's also connected to the same fuse.

...i think all consol lights are on that same fuse as well as the interior light...check the engine bay, one on the left about 1/2 way down...

lol my dashlights are out too... and yes ever since I put my headunit in lol It's all good though, just need to replace the fuse as it was caused by a bad ground with the headunit (fixed now).

Haha yup same here. I've heard so many times on here "I've just installed my new head unit and the dash lights are out"....."Check ya fuse".

Had the same thing happen with my TS, installed the HU & kept blowin' the parker/dash fuse (under the bonnet), turned out I hooked the old stereo's light wire up to the new HU...but it wasn't required, as soon as I unhooked it fuse stopped blowin', new HU has its own built in lights power.

If my memory is right, it was the Green/White wire, TR may be different though

Just found my wiring notes from when I hooked my new HU up, these are the factory wiring on my TS

Battery/Memory = Red/Green

Power/Accessories = Blue/Red

(Orig Radio Light = Green/White (not needed, it's why I kept blowing my dash/parkers)

Left Front + = Black/White

Left Front - = Black

Right Front + = Red/White

Right Front - = Red

It shouldn't affect your cabin light, only your headunit. My TR has a 5amp inline fuse for the HU power wire, because my HU needed a 10amp fuse, anything over half volume would blow it.

Do not get these 2 mixed up, almost ran the battery dead on my missus Daewoo by leaving the HU running.
Whoever installed the headunit connected the power to the car's memory so the HU won't turn off when the cars off.

Just call me anal Abb0 :P *LOL*
Reason for the notes was so if/when I sold maggie I could wire the orig HU back in, or if I bought/upgraded HU, wouldn't need to figure the wires again.
As it was, I bought a better HU from dimi108 & only took me 1/2hr to install

Good to see problem solved TR 300000 :)

I'm just curious about entries in this thread that mention about replacing the HU = headlight unit, and some trouble with the wiring. Why would the wiring be a concern, as the plug with the wires, plugs onto the back of the headlight lamp/globe, not the unit. So why would the wiring be effected? Can someone explain please? (No, its not Pauline Hanson asking)

With some model HU's, It's not a simple plug out, plug in.
Wiring changes between brands and year models.

For Example when i replaced my stock cassette player with a new HU, the newer HU had yellow, pink and orange wiring.
My cassette on the other hand only had green, red, black and white wiring.

When they say HU they mean "Head Unit" - ie. modern speak for a replacemnet stereo/radio/CD payer - the part that goes in the dash and which doesn't include speakers, amps, CD chnagers etc/

It seems I'm from "old school" with regards to terminology used today. HU = stereo/radio/cd. That would normally be called the Player or stereo unit. Oh well, you learn something every day. Thanks BradV6 and TR 300000, in bringing me up to speed on new terminology.
