At the moment mine ranges from 180-220psi. Very messy. cant wait to sort it.. will be another 20 or 30kw..:)

interesting... who does the tests? and how much do they cost?
anyone know the factory compression or maximum compression of the 2.6L?

I think it's about 180psi on the 4 cyl if I remember right... the tests you can do yourself if you get a compression gauge. You just take out the spark plugs and crank it a few times and then take the reading from the gauge.

Factory specs is 1300 Kpa (whatever that is in psi; multiply kpa by 0.14504)
As long as you are within 85% of that or more, and the cylinders are within 10% of each other your fine.
Its a simple test, whip out the plugs and screw a comp tester into each cylider 1 at a time.
While its in a spark plug hole crank the engine (with the throttle wide open) until the gauge stops rising (usually a few seconds) and theres your reading. Repeat for all 4/6 cyl :D
1300KPA = 188PSi. My TR 3L got 180 all over at 180,000kms which is decent.
If your readings are down your rings are sad, if one is low and the rest are ok this obviously means one pistons rings are sad. Low reading = rebuild/transplant time (unless you have a low compression engine for some reason, aka turbo/supercharging/n2o).
150 to 180 psi is normal in most motors diesel is a lot higher
as long as the readings look sort of like 150 155 160 150 145 150 160 motor is fine
if they look like this 150 145 160 120 150 155 you have either head problems burnt valve or worn rings.
if they look like this 150 155 155 120 120 160 155. its possable you have a head gasket blown between 2 clyinders
even on older motors readings like 130 120 130 125 130 120 is not too bad but will be lacking some power
if they look like this 150 155 155 120 120 160 155. its possable you have a head gasket blown between 2 clyinders
If they look like that it means your motor has grown a 7th cylinder.

dnt forget if one cylinder is down on comp to sqirt a little bit of oil down the spark plug hole to seal the rings, a wet comp test to see if the rings are ****ed or if its a head gasket etc

A little bit as in 2 or 3 mls. Not 50mls like some compression testers recommend because you will fill your tester with oil and spray it all over your engine bay.

Yes. Did mine before fitting the supercharger. The results were....
Cyl 1. 172
Cyl 2. 168
Cyl 3. 169
Cyl 4. 170
Cyl 5. 171
Cyl 6. 170
