Hey guys, my TJ is booked in for another lowering job this week, just curious if the mechanic is gonna need to access anything through the boot of the car? i have a full boot install, so if the answer is a yes, i could have a wee problem!! hahahahahaha!!! but yeah, i would rather know in advance and disassemble my install myself rather then let someome else get stuck into it:redface:

shouldn't need to go through the boot. to get to the top of the rear springs the rear seat has to come out and they will need to get under the parcel shelf.

Yes they will, the parcel shelf needs to come out which involves removing the rear speaker grilles, also they need to pull the black surround off the ski hole in the boot.

Um I disagree on this. When I had full suspension setup done the rear stuff was all done through the boot - no seat removal, no shelf removal. All they did remove was the carpet around the rear suspension towers.

How did they remove the rear strut? It's bolted to the parcel shelf.

No suspension part is bolted to the rear parcel shelf. Its not a load bearing part of the structure.

you just pop out the back seat and if needed lift up the pcl shelf, RELAX you will have no problems...

I have takin mi rear struts out 3 times, and to get them out you need to take the carpetted 'parcel shelf' to get the metal structure under it to undo the strut bolts.

This might be true but it isnt a load bearing part of the suspension.

dosnt the whole stru like go all the way into the rear parcel shelf where its hold by 3 bolts?
anyways they can remove those bolts without removig the speaker grill but its annoying.
best thig to do is remove the grills yourself to save them and you messing up your boot install.

All done now anyways...... in the end i went and saw the guy that would be doing it and he confirmed that the sub box needs to be pushed to the back of the boot, which involed taking the fron panel off and removing the amps and mdf walls on the sides of the boot. actually wasnt as big a job as i thought, though getting it back together took a little longer! So the lows came out and the superlows went in yesterday arvo, looks sweet too if i do say so myself!
