g'day all
was driving the other day when for no reason i can think of the tunes stopped.
checked out the HU and was still spinning the disk and picking up radio fine, just no sound!
head unit is a pioneer DEH-P5750MP, thats coming up on 2 years old
will be pulling the deck out when i have some time, but was just wondering if anyone else on here has had similar issues or any suggestions as to what happened?
also is there any way to access an error message function? (like an ecu)
thanks guys and gals

do you have any amps at all?
In Car Entertainment:
pioneer mp3 headunit, pioneer 6 inch 3ways(fr) 6*9 4ways (r). 4*100W response amp + 12 inch JL audio sub
that would be a yes roberto :P
i'd be checking connections, grounds, fuses etc, then come back and ask...till then could be a number of things

Ok if you are running an amp as spackbace said it could be heaps of things:
Amp over-heated.
You have short somewhere in your system, be it the power cable(check fuse)/speaker cabling/RCA leads/remote wire etc.
One of your speakers has blown causing a short in the system.
Your amp could have blown up.
Your power/ground/remote wire may have fallen out of the amp.
I'm sure there could be other causes too, but if the headunit is playing fine i'm lead to believe it's something other than that, though the RCA channels may have given up? Not sure how common this would be.

thanks for the response guys
i run my front speakers through the HU directly, so i think it might be a blown speaker tripping something in the unit maybe?
also i had a friend suggest that it could be a blown internal amplifier in the head unit, has this happened to anyone else?
again, thanks for your responses
when i get some time away from exam study i'll pull my car apart and go through with a test light and multimeter, prob this weekend.
cheers

blown internal fuse (the one in the HU)? or would that make the HU totally dead?

the internal amp can blow, but as u have an external amp too there should be sound to the rear even if the internal amps blown.

umm, any idea where that might be, is it a combination of buttons or something?
once i get it pulled apart i can test the rca outputs and see if theyre still working to check if its the internal amp, and check all wiring etc...
if i cant find the problem do you suggest i go to a pioneer repair center (i think theres one near clayton) or to another audio specialist.
thanks guys

ran the fronts into the existing wire loom using one of those adaptor thingies (technical term), that give you an easy connection between aftermarket connectors and the mitsu loom. makes it as easy as joining the dots...well, colours and stripy bits anyway
