Howdy
I have a TJ2 Advance which has a factory alarm fitted. It's good, but one thing I think it lacks is an arm-disarm chirp. Does anyone know if it's possible to add this feature, either via an aftermarket kit, or maybe a setting that just needs to be changed somewhere?
Thanks.

You could hook up your own little chirp if you wanted to. Just connect a chirper (lol if they exist or if thats what they're even called :P) to the power wire in the receiver in the car.
No idea where the receiver is though :P.

If you know where wires are in your car anything can be done. The module for your remote central locking is under the steering column, its a black box with about ten wires coming out of it. Theres a wire for lock and a wire for unlock, when you press the lock/unlock on your remote 12v goes down this wire. So you could basically hook up anything to those wires including your horn, so when you press the lock/unlock 12v goes to the horn which makes the horn toot when you open and close your car.

Easy to do just use the indicator outputs to drive a small buzzer under the bonnet but you will need to insert a diode in line to stop the indicators feeding it on turns...

You could do it with 2 relays
Wire one into the accessories to provide power when the accessories isnt on. Use this power into another relay with the indicators as the trigger. The output of this goes to the horn
When engine is off and indicators are on it will activate the horn.
But this will mean a longer beep (for the period the indicator is on.)
It will also mean when your indicators are on and the car is off (ie hazards, the horn will go)
Or just upgrade to aftermarket alarm

Why not attach a beeper or buzzer to the 12v wire that feeds the unlock door and a different type to the lock door wire of the central locking. (pick any door that you get easy access to its wires)
When you press the remote you'll get two different "sounds" for locking and unlocking the car.

The horn chirps when you attempt to lock the car and one or more doors are ajar. It's a quick 'beep beep' sound.
This says to me that the horn is already connected somehow to the remote central locking unit? As such, perhaps if you can find that connection, split it off and link it up to the lock/unlock wires liberate mentioned?

That's what i'm trying to find out. Apparently on Commodores you can enable/disable the chirp by holding both alarm buttons for a period of time.
