Either your transmission is slipping something awful making the engine work harder than it should, there is a vacuum leak somewhere (which would cause the air sound), or there is an issue with your fuel supply and the engine is running extremely lean, which will make it run very hot too.

Take a look around the engine for any leaking or loose vacuum hoses. If there is nothing there, get the fuel system and injectors checked to make sure there is enough fuel getting through. If that fails too, the clutch (only one in manual, many in auto) could be at fault. I would doubt that would be the issue however, as you would have some significant issues with gears changing otherwise...

Good luck with it all! :)

could be a blown exhaust manifold gasket ?
oil leaking onto exhaust
red hot / warped head on the manifold side
cooloing fan not working to the max
wrong timing on engine

the computer controls the idle

exhaust gaskets can leak and that side of the head can warp

also a faulty air flow meter wont help

hot exhaust could mean clogged cat

Can you describe the weird smell you are getting at all?

Can you describe the noise? Is it a high pitched sucking noise? Or more of a lower pushing noise?

If its high pitched you may have a cracked intake manifold. If its the later, you may have a cracked exhaust manifold.

The weird burning smell may be the exhaust gasses that have leaked out of the cracked exhaust manifold(if thats wat it is) Since the gasses have been unfiltered by the cat(being leaking before the cat) it will smell rather weird and yes burning smell.

(i'm using the cracked with two meanings, cracked manifold itself, or just broken seal - gasket)
