Hey guys and gals,

had a bit of a serch and could not find much on the old topics so sorry if i'm repeating some thing and please direct me to it. anyway...

I have a 95 TS magna (3.0 manual) and i have put some kings lows in it (along with KYB shocks). I have noticed that it bottoms out when i'm turning and hit a bump. is this a common thing with magnas or is it just me? more importaintly is there anything that i can do about it? I had the same set up on my old lancer and i never had a problem so i figure it is cos the magna is heavier.

any help would be great

Doug.

yeah easy get a knife out and chop the bumpstops in half, then you will get an extra 20mm or so travel before it hits the stops

lol yeah i bottom out as well sometimes, but thats coz my front bar is 140mm off the deck prolly also coz its sitting on kingsprings.... my advice is simply to take it a little easier on bumps and you're car will thank you for it.

Cheers,
Adz

chopping the bump stops huh? My old lancer had them completly removed which was a little odd but could be it...? never had to replace them tho and stangely no one ever commented on the lack of them. even the cops:nuts:

AdamJ2006:

The problem is that it not when i'm goin over speed bumps or stuff like that its when i'm rounding a corner, which i do often as i live in the Adelaide hills, while the spring is already compresed from the turn and then i hit a bump in the road (DO NOT underestimate the condition of the road in the Adelaide hills - they SUCK!!! ...still fun tho:P ). thats when they bottom out. never had a prob when i'm in a straight line.

any idea if thing like strut braces and sway bars may help. Feel free to correct my thinking but if they help to keep the car more level through the turn that means less compression on the outside spring meaning less chance of bottoming out.

strut brace wont stop your car from bottoming out it will just stop the struts from bending under load.
the KYB shocks you got are they second hand or brand new? maybe your shocks are dead

MAte take them back to where you got them from. it should not happen and has never happened to me. I have KYB's all round with Lovells and have only bottomed out once whenm i went up a stupidly deep driveway and boom. Besides that they are pretty stiff, id take them back and see if they can replace them
