Hi folks.

I've been enjoying my new 380 Platinum lately but the one thing I miss from my old car is the amateur gear I had in it.

Is there anyone who has installed or have two-way radio (etc) gear in their 380 and have any ideas? There's just so little space and to make things more interesting, I'm trying to do it all without drilling holes :-)

The radio is a Yaesu FT-8900R with a remote-mount kit (amateur) and some sort of UHF CB (have a Philips PRM8040 remote but might change depending on if it'll fit)

I'm thinking of using either one - maybe two, one on each side- of these:

Or, one of these on the console just under the stock LCD:

Cheers,
Gavin.

Well I can join you now as picked up a TW, and modern is a bugger to place the radio let alone antenna. So we must be in the same boat. I have the Icom 2720H remote and yet to work this out but I have had basic success with the on-glass unity gain 1/4 wave but the high mount centre stop light means left or right side and in the black of the rear screen as shouldn't go through the tint, too low anyway.

Was trying to see if I could get a hold of a larson KG-2/70-CX-PL (dual band on glass) but cannot see if it has ground strips. I don't think I am winning and those 3db or dbi CB on glass, don't seem to get cut for 70cm. Bugger. So fall back option is the z mount but front or rear guard and the tolerances is such that even the cable is going to be squashed.

How did you go as keen to know mount of head unit and ant, Geoff Vk4cm
