Run the engine with the bonnet up and give us more of an indication as to where the noise is coming from.
Work out all other possibilities before you go remove any belts.
Sounds like a cow? - Are you sure it isn't just the fans Starting up?

Get a long screwdriver and use it like a doctors stethoscope.

With the engine running, put one end on the ac pump etc near the bearings and the other end to your ear.

DONT PUT IT ON ANYTHING ACTUALLY MOVING, JUST ON THE FIXED PARTS

It sounds stupid but it works VERY well.

The offending component will be obvious,

Check your ac pump, alternator, power steering pump, any idler pulleys and water pump.

Same problem with my old KS. The AC compressor bearings are stuffed. Can't remember
how much it was to replace. It was 4 years ago.

RE: the screwdriver, some common sense that often doesn't cross one's mind, if you have hair then for god's sake make sure you don't get it anywhere near moving parts when you lean in to listen!
