Ok i have done a search but could find anything that i was after
any, i have this noise that i can't get rid of it only happens when the car is running, it happend with my old headunt as well as my new one. When the car is runnign you can hear this noise when the volume is down low(like on a tv when there is no channel is set) it happens when im using the ipod, cd or radio.
the rca's are miles away from the amps, do i need a noise filter??
cheers

It's almost defiantly the power supply on your car, does the noise change with the revs of the engine?
If not it's the amp/head unit.

rca's are on the bottom of the boot and right hand side of the car (looking from the boot) and the power is on the left

no it dosen't, but it depends

I dont think its engine whine it sounds like you have a bad noise floor. Speculating but its the result of your gains being too high on your amp.
More system detail, what amps? where are they what gauge wiring for power etc.
How high are your gains, what power does your amps put out?

2 scherider amp can't remrnemer the model no's , 4 gauge from battery then split to amps 1x 600 watt 4 channel (speakers) other one is a 1800 wat 5 channel, for the sub
the 600 watt one has no bass running through it, i set it that way, not turned up to munch, about a quarter and the other one is yurned up not even a quarter

How loud is the white noise? (the fuzzy noise like on the tv) Does it ever change with engine revs?
Im assuming you are still using stock grounds on your headunit?
Try upgrading these directly to the chassis instead (just find a bolt near the headunit. sadn it back (if its not bare metal and attach to that)
If it does change with revs, it is most likely induced noise in your RCA's (cure = re route the RCA's) otherwise all systems have a certain noise floor, its almost impossible to remove (except for high end SQ units with noise gates built in etc)
To narrow it down you can test things, plug a portable music player into your amps directly, engine on... is there noise? if yes? its your amp (upgrade groundsl, may be faulty)
If no
Plug the player into the headunit end of the rca's is there noise? if yes, its your rca leads, re route them if no, its your headunit (upgrade headunit grounds) is there still noise? if yes rca tracks (to avoid damaging RCA tracks make sure you NEVER unplug or plug in RCAs when electrical equipment is on.
Good luck
was your old headunit an alpine too? ive always found Alpines to be fussy about their install, anything just the slightest bit to how they dont want it and youll cop a huge noise floor. same thing thats happening in my car atm, im just too lazy to find it just yet :P

ill try place the ground somewhere else, it currently on the stock one whih goes down to the gear shifter thing on the floor
