looking at buying a 12inch dual voicecoil velocity sub. rated at 1000W max 500RMS. any good/bad points/comments on sub/brand? appreciate it

There are better there are worse. how much are you paying for it and what amp will be driving it?

without knowing the sub I'd rate the Blaupunkt speakers on par with pioneer? They have a few good amps etc.

Good sub brands to keep in mind, Image dynamics, DD, Phoenix Gold, Earthquake, Treo, Boston, Diamond etc.
