i'v noticed when i drive my car, the belts are making a weird slipping whirring type of noise , it is exaggerated when the car is first turned on in the morning(cold engine), does anyone know what this could be ?

Belts are slipping. This is due to age or being too loose, you can either tighten them, making sure not to tighten them too much or replace them.
It is exaggerated when u turn the engine over as the belts are going from stopped to doing 1000 or so RPM.

just changed both my drive belts a while ago. it's normal that new belts tend to stretch abit after a bit of a run-in. just bring it back to the workshop and ask them for a quick tighten. shouldn't cost a cent. and yea, the symptoms you mentioned are definitely that of a loose or worn belt.

Don't over tighten your blets as it puts excessive stress on the bearings of the part being driven.
Check the belt and pulleys if the pulleys are very shiney thats your prob.
Bosch belts are synomous for this.
