does mitsu make a black leather gear boot for manual 3rd gens(like off a TL vrx or something). my original vinyl one has had it and would like a leather one. just wondering what they cost if there is one before i go and get an aftermarket one and bugger around fitting it. also if there is one anyone got a part number. cheers.

Don't think they did. The 3rd gen sports models had leather gear knobs and steering wheels but I'm pretty sure the gear boots were all that crappy vinyl throughout the range. When my vinyl one went to sh*t I did like you're saying, went to supercheap and picked up a "monza" leather boot for $20. Just needed a little cutting to fit it to the frame in the magna.

I got a custom leather boot made up for $60 with red stitching, and the gear knob covered to suit for another $60. He did a fantastic job and a perfect fit.

Place called 'North East All Transport Upholstery'. He used heavy seating leather as well, not thin crappy stuff so it wont wear out in a hurry, and it feels so sooooft :D
I'm in Adelaide, so not much use unless you are here! :)

You will find that they aren't leather, in fact I don't know of any that are leather from factory, as I rang Mitsi when looking for mine and they said that they are all vinyl leather look-alike.
The gear knob and steering wheel can be found in leather, but not the gear boot.

So mine is actually not leather, its vinyl hmmm. Alright then thanks mate.
Do you know how much a replacement gear knob is by any chance?
Thanks in advance.

a couple of years ago i got quoted $140 from Mitsi. the original vrx/sport one wear out quickly so replacing it with another one at that price didnt make sense to me. picked myself up a nice black leather MOMO one for less and its still in good nic.

Yep, just vinyl. Hence they wear out so quickly :(
No idea bout a factory one myself, but I judging by the post above over $100 (why aren't I surprised).
I just got my existing knob recovered for $60. I wanted to keep it as they are a very heavy knob compared to after market ones, so it makes gear shifting a bit nicer.

Whoa, just a little bit over priced.

How long ago did you get it done?
Just wondering if that would still be the price, cos if it is, I'll be ringing them shortly (my vinyl one is shot).

I probably got it done 2-3 months ago. Price should still be the same.
Just mention that they did one a while ago, for $60 each piece, boot and knob, and they should match that price.
