Hi guys... i bumped into a friend on my way to the carpark and saw his verada. OMG the instrument cluster was stunning... so euro accord... and we were talking about it till an idea came into my mind, cause it seems like the plastic of his instrument cluster was dark so it was hard for the gauges to be seen without the ign on. BUT... my TJII does the same thing, the light on the cluster is on whenever i on my engine. can anyone reckon if it would be an idea to tint my cluster to make a replica of the verada's instrument cluster??
hahaa...
lol

sorry but i doubt the lighting to the stock needles/guages will be sufficient to break thru the tint, especially at night time (depending on what grade tint u went for)
just try it with lower grades (maybe see if tint places will sell u cutoffs or something) and keep increasing it, but messing with the viewability of the guages at night time can be a bit dodgy as well.

i have done this, the stock dash lighting on my awd is led illuminated and is always on so i thought i'd go for the verada look.... i lightly tinted the perspex cover (not as dark as a verada) anyway it looked ok but.... i could barley see my dashrings :( and at night the dials were hard to see :( so i un tinted it!

the verada cluster is MUCH brighter, and with my awd having fixed leds in it from factory there is no easy way of making it brighter, better of finding a verada cluster (good luck finding a TJ2 digi one cheap)

Don't forget that the rada needles are also lit. Mine has a narrow red plastic that lights up
that goes the length of each needle.

sounds like an interesting idea.. wonder how it'd look with the illuminated EL gauges

I agree with Andrewd, don't bother. I put a TJII sports white overlay on a std TJII, and I could not easily see the speedo at dusk, or night. Never solved it - got a 2nd hand awd sports cluster in the end. The Verada cluster is a whole other animal, and no one on here has ever been able to put a rada cluster on TJII-TW. Different plug I think, but not sure. The mitsu TH-TL workshop manual indicates the rada cluster is a different entity too.

Here's a pic I took of the dash before dropping it off at AAMI. You can see how bright the
numbers and needles are.

If you are referring to the MPH type ones from ebay, it would look great since they are super bright but you would not be able to see the needles. It's difficult to see the needles with them installed without any tinting as it is. That's why I removed mine, and also beause the brightness of the dials gave me a headache and is distracting after a while.
