Hi there,
I have been down to Gary's car radio in mitcham, and have come back with a list that i like and they also like. Just wondering if you guys would change anything that is in same price range or plz tell me if i doing anything stupid.
HU: Alpine CDE-9881 (Quoted $350)
Front splits: Focal 165 V2S Polyglass (Quoted $350)
Amp: Soundstream PCA2.260 (Picasso) 2x80wRMS (Quoted $200)
I am also getting it fully installed with sound deadening and focal mats as well(front doors). (all cabling as well)
I have been quoted $1300.
This sound fair?

sub? sub amp? otherwise sounds fair.. although $400 to install the 3 things? have you thought about DIY?
edit: nvm.. $400 for deadening, all wiring and install is fair

Sounds pretty fair, the guys ar Gary's are pretty good too, maybe check out Styln car audio in boronia just to compare the prices/install costs.

Sounds like a fair price, but with just front splits you are really gonna be lacking in the bass department dude..... even if you dont want to invest in another amp and a sub, i would think about finding some bass-heavy 6x9s for the rear to fill a bit of the gap in the sound range.

u listen to the focals? a number of reviews usually say theyre a bit higher pitched, not as mellow as some of the other brands. install cost seems pretty good for $400...most places charge like $100 just for a H/U install! also check on www.caraudioaustralia.com on their 2nd hand forum, may find some better splits or better amp for cheaper :)
really for the money sounds good, depending on budget could easily push the splits budget to $500 and suggest Boston/Morel etc etc, and same with amps, theres much better SQ amps out there than SS, but may push the price up a little.
also dont forget that no matter what the split sounds like on the demo board, it will sound much different in the car itself. something to think about :)
maybe try meeting up with other magna owners in ur state and listen to some of their setups, unless u were definite on the above list.
just suggestions :)
