Hi,
Looking at changing my steering wheel, and was wondering if the EVO wheel will fit. Most mitsubishi's seem to use the same boss kit on the aftermarket sites. Doe anyone have any experience?
Cheers,
HK

Alls I know is that i bought a TE/F model wheel for the TR...it fit like a dream but made for quite a bit of stuffing around to get the horn to work...in the end got it working...and now it fits fine. i would'nt be so sure about the evo one though. it would make sense that with the lancer being a smaller car (im more ways than one), the boss would be slightly smaller. i dunno, just thinking aloud now...do some research, maybe ring mitsi and find out?

Or next time you are at a wreckers, pull a few off and try swapping them around!:D Doesn't help if you don't have a wreckers available... but yeah, you can learn a hell of a lot by playing around at the wreckers, destroy their cars instead of yours!
(As with yann89, I have no first-hand experience of trying other makes).

if its smaller, may be more awkward to use, and also interfere with ur view of the gauges.

dot bso quic as to say tat it'll be awkward. dads car (VE Calais-V) has the new, small steering wheel, but is got the sports hand-grip an 10 and2 o'clock. i actually prefer the smaller stering whel after driving a pathfindr an a liberty for a while (both roughly same size wheels). i think if the wheel's chunky, then it's very comfortable and no akward once you get used to it.

They all have to be on or above 350mm anyway. My best idea would be get some calipers and measure the spindle hole of the Magna steering wheel and then ring a wrecker and ask him to measure it or take your calipers to a wreckers and check out the evo wheel. Evo wheels are just MOMO anyway arn't they? I'm pretty sure you can buy them as normal aftermarket wheels. expect something stupid like $400 for them brand new and because they're off an evo the wreckers will probably want something like 3/4 of that.
I have an Evo 1 on my TS and it works a treat, even better cos it comes with the mitsi symbol on it so it looks like a factory item = less trouble from boys in blue.
my horn does not work at present (on my to do list) and has not worked since i got the car so i'm not sure about the horn issue. I know that all lancers from the CB (late 80s) through to the CE (late 90s), including evos, had the same boss size so they should all fit

Just FYI, the "bus driver" steering wheel in the Magnas is what makes turning so soft. The power steering helps, but because of the size of the wheel, force applied to the outside is bigger at the center on a bigger steering wheel.
I love my soft steering.

It most likely would be due to the Calais having a quicker steering rack meaning less input is needed to get the designated out put. If they made it really light you will end up turning more than is desired.

the boss kits for Magnas (96 on) are common with Lancers from 96 on, Mirages from 97 on, just don't know 100% about EVOs. Reason for my interest is to make diameter of wheel smaller, as I think steering is too light.

evos have the same bolt size at the lancers, the early evos (1,2,3) simply came with a momo wheel and a boss (see pic on previous page). not sure about the later ones tho.
