Hey guys,

I am a recently converted GSR fan and as such i do not really know much about the magna i now drive. I have a TS V6 manual and love it, so much fun to drive. It currently has bad paint fade on the roof and it is creeping in on the bonnet and boot so i will be looking to get it resprayed soon. So i thought that i might get the bumpers body coloured at the same time. However, the exec front end is v v bland and boring. I have seen several different front ends from pics on here and was wondering if people could give me a hand to see the different stock front ends that these cars came with.

I have looked at the bodykits that are avalable for it but some pics i have seen on here look like there are some good stock options as well.

also, does the Varada rear bar stick out further?

Any help would be great

Doug

Ok, Here are your options:

KR Verada front bar:

KR Verada rear bar:

NZ Diamante front bar:
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g35/z0mgluke/attachment-1.jpg

Those are the only stock differentiated front and rear bars you can get unfortunately... I personally love the KR front, but can I locate one near me? Of course I can't.

Oh yes, and to answer your question, the verada rear bar does stick out further than it's magna cousin.

Enjoy.

Wow, I had no idea the NZ Diamante was so hot looking. If I was planning on holding onto my car for another year or so I would really look into buying the whole front kit from one.

the photo lucifer posted on the diamante bar has an added lip onto it, that bar is easier to find than the one with the round fog lights, theres a few cars with those bars on here

RE: Lights etc., matching to the pics posted by Lucifer and Hojo:

1. KR - different grille

3. US Diamante / NZ / Euro Sigma: Whole assembly, lights and chrome grille/surround. You HAVE to get the whole lot as the lights are smaller to fit in with the chrome surround. But you COULD chop the surround to just have the grille bit if you really wanted to.

4. KS Verada / Jap Diamante parrabolics and grille. Also had the orange blinkers, ala BMW, but are a little harder to find, and some people prefer using the stock blinkers.

Roughly speaking, the KS/Jap parras will cost around $200-300, KS grille around $50, KS blinkers around $50. US front assembly probably at least $300. Don't know about bumpers, but I've seen the series 2 diamante ones go for well over $300, and that was probably considered cheap.

Diamante series 1 ftw.

I got a series 2 jap bumper which cost me about $300 which has the lip on the bottom of the bar and than you need to get it paint which is another $250 - $350 so it all adds up to be rather expensive.

Cheers for the help guys! Love the look of the Diamante, might have to suss one of them next time i pop across the tasman, gotta love the family connections:) . In the meantime i think i'll try to find a KR front and rear bar. then to get it painted:doubt:

Actually, there are two different series I Sigma front bars, one with a bigger frontlip and one with a smaller. My old Sigma had the smaller one

dimi108
22-06-2007, 03:40 PM
Yep. Shame on me. I left that one out hehe. Refering to this series I Sigma brochure (on the bottom), your new sigma has the bigger factory option "aero" front lip. Your old one had the standard Series I "sports" lip.
The optional "aero" front lip on your new sigma looks really good johnny :D
Definitely a lot meaner

Goin on the car one monday!!

what do people think bout the headlights and crome grill? I have KS parabolics already and am tossing up between swapping to the diamante ones with the grill or staying with the KS ones.

I had to buy the nose cut so i have all the lights and stuff so its just a matter of choosing what i want

dimi108
24-06-2007, 10:37 AM
I think it looks great. Very unique look too.
With the chrome headlight surround and grille and the diamante front bar, you'll notice people's comments change from "oh it's just a magna" into "whoa what car is that?"
Depending what look you want. The chrome grille and headlights were for the Series I 1991-1993 model Diamante/Sigma. The newer 1994-1995 series II came with the KS parabolics and grille. So if you want yours to look like a series I go for the chrome grille and headlight assembly. But if you want to go for the newer updated "import" look then stick with your paras and get yourself a KS grille.

I prefer the series II KS parabolics updated look as the series I chrome grille front can sometimes look dated. But I think both are very nice.
Make sure you get the front bar as well. The stock "magna" front bars are shocking.

Below, showing the comparison between series I and series II which were scanned from the front cover of my brochures

Doug
24-06-2007, 10:58 AM
cheers for the comparison shots. think i will go with the crome grill and surround for a while and see what i think, then swap it back it if feel like it

Dont pay more then a few hundred $$$ for the nose cut.
One place wanted $800 for just the nose cut, i got mine for almost a quarter of that

dimi108
24-06-2007, 11:22 AM
$800... that's a rip

When you guys are asking for nose cuts, what do you ask for? Magna? Or Diamante?

the nose cut cost $440:D . Decided that i like the look of it better with the KS paras on it, much to the disapointment of my mate:gtfo: .

so i'm sellin the diamante lights and grill in the for sale section (V6 manual TS with front end damage and more thread)

anyway here a pic of the bar on. its goin in soon to get it colour coded and get the scratchs fixed. Guy at banners asked me what kind of BMW it was cos he didn't reconise itlol

the look on his face when i told him it was a magna :bowrofl:

lol Bmw!
Man I've copped heaps of that too. Had it mistaken for a beemer, a galant vr-4, a "chinese" car, a turbo magna, new sigma gsr, a japanese magna, a twin turbo magna, a verada vr-4, a verada gt (wtf),a galant and mostly "hey mate what kind of import car is that?... how much was it?"

Was with my mates at the car meet in orange grove and police were scoping out are cars walking up to them and sussing them out and he pointed to my car and said to his parter "definitely an import". Like he knew it all hahahhaa

Look on page 3 on this thread, i posted 2 pics.. look close where the lip starts (besides the wheel) on both pictures and you can messure, the one with the two cutouts (it have been white reflectors that have been painted over.. but im not sure) looks angrier and its larger yes
