Hi, I'm new and looking at getting into a 380 VRX soon.
I'm struggling a little to find one in manual, mainly due to the low number sold new.
I've found a Molten (red) 11/2005, 23,000km for $26990 drive away with leather and a sunroof. It's an ex-Mitsubishi Exexcutive car so the 10 year drive-line warranty carries over to me. They are screwing me a bit on trade in, but no worse than any other dealer would.
When you take away stamp duty and rego it works out to around $24400 for the car, which seems pretty decent to me.
What do you Mitsubishi Gurus think?

I just passed up a new 380 SX manual in Molten for $30990 on the road. I see you are in Vic so if you are interested in this car PM me and i will give you the dealers number.

$26990 is stretching my finances already.
The extra $4000 could be better spent.
Not to mention that the VRX looks better!

Sounds good to me ... only problem with these are the resale, which isnt a big deal if you're going to hang on to it for a while.

you don't buy a god damn car for the god damn resale value, its already pretty much 2nd car anyway. unless you've got some rare ass car, resale is always gonna suck cause your never gonna get the money back on it
i hate people going on about the stupid resale value of car :doubt:
sounds like an alright deal, go for it

So if you had had the choice between two similar cars, knowing if you sold both in 5 years you may get another 5k for one of them, you wouldn't care? Each to their own hey.

Resale values matter to most people. Obviously, cars aren't an investment, but they're still one of the more expensive things most of us will ever buy, so it's value down the road is a relevant topic.

compared to what? in royalauto the 380 doesnt have the best resale percentage wise but it looses the least $$$ of the big 4.

I think we are getting a little off track here.
If it wasn't for the poor re-sale value of these cars, I wouldnt be looking at one now.
So it works both ways. Cant expect the best of both worlds!
Is the car, at the price, decent value??

Short answer is YES !
Thats a great price for a car that is essentially still brand new, and you actually get the full 5/10 warranty !!!
I have the Platinum and I think the car at new retail price is actually cheap compared to what you get.
An almost new VRX with leather interior. You can't go wrong with that !

I personally think $27k is pushing it. Negotiate down based on the crappy trade in value, there are many dealers that will do almost anything to get rid of these used 380's. $25k would be a good price.

use series 3 as a bargaining chip... mention something along the lines of 'well i know in a month or 2 a new series will be coming out, pushing down the value of this car, so think u can work that into it?' or some such, u improvise :P
but yeah, sounds good, leather and manual will hold its value better than standard vrx's (as seen in vrx's now) so that combo should be a winner down the track :)
