Ok before you rant and rave about searching....i did and only found one really old thread that was worth looking at... but being old it most likely is out of date with this topic and i didnt want to thread mine....

anyway. In light of a sound system upgrade that will be occurring in the next 2 weeks i am thinking im gonna need an alarm in my TF.

Now i was wondering wat would be a good system in the 300-400 buck range installed that gives me door, boot and bonnet sensors and if possible window sensors....

also i really dont like the way the TF's unlock all the doors when u open the car... where as the TH's onwards first turn of key/ click of remote opens only the drivers door.... is it possible to get this sort of system with a aftermarket alarm using the current central locking system?

if this price range isnt feasible what price would i be lookin at?

also any good installer in SE burbs of melbourne?

i know that brant sell some really good alarms for example http://www.brant.com.au/Content_Common/pg-Brant-100-UG-Upgrade-Alarm.seo

you have to let them install it, they use allblack wiring and stuff.

cheers mate...should have looked up security instead of aftermarket alarm

that answers my first q...

but is it possible to get an alarm that has a similiar central locking system to the TH+... coz i dont like driving with all my doors open.... and i dont like having my driver door locked at all times....???

i got my alarm a while ago so can remember the exact price but from memory it was around the $400 mark.

that included Boot, Bonet, Doors and window break installed. i got it from AutoBarn.

all the doors open with one touch of the button, the remote even has the button if you want a boot release. that was extra.

the only problem i found with this is the glass break sensor was too sensitive and on hot nights the alarm would go off. the plastic in the door was expanding and contracting. i got them to turn down the sensitivty and it was all fine.

my old lancer had an alarm that had 4 buttons on it that could be programmed to do almost anything. I had one to disarm and open all doors, one to disarm and open drivers door, one to arm and lock all doors and one for the boot releace. It cost over a grand installed but was really good, had a pager that worked for bout 500m. can remember what brand it was but i got it from motoquipe

but as Forst said, the glass break sensor was too sensitive so i had it disconnected

Mongoose Website (http://www.mongoose.com.au/car-security/index.php?product_id=M80G)

here is a link to it...

the G is the 5 star version of the S....comes with (from wat i can tell)

a 3 point immobliser as opposed to the S's 2
and a glass break sensor...
