Really depends how much you are willing to spend. Give us a price range?
These would be my choice. Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (http://www.goodyear.com.au/TyreDetailAction.do?website=GYR&mtpcode=00373&from=nPerPage) But then again they are 270 odd per tyre.

I got the Bridgestone 592 and they are great value for money. Nothing fancy as far as sporty (which you probably arent looking for in a wagon), but quite and long lasting and good all round grip.

or if your really poor why not re treads....
i mean re treads arent as bad a s everyone makes them out to be, i had a good set on my falcon...
ohh and they cant be that bad if they yse them on passanger aircraft Qantas Jetstar etc.. (yes they use re treads!!!!!)
thats serious too, the re cap the tyres up to about 8 times befor fitting a completly new one

ahh great just what I wanted too know before flying tomorrow hahah... meh they will be right...
Anyways the TH originally came out with the Turanza'a they were a bloody good tyre.. But after fitting the Goodyear F1's for the last 4 sets I cant fault em... Beware thou, tyres n G-Strings have one thing in common, the less of material, the more cost involved!

Your cheap option is Maxxis MA-V1, no drama, good for wet and dry roads.

Bridgestone ER592's on my car. Good improvement in dry weather grip over stock, VERY good improvement in wet weather grip over stock. Exceptionally good wearing tyres too! I've had them on my car for over 6 months now and they still look brand new, and i do 600km's a week as a courier aswell so its not like i only drive it to work and back either!

Goodyear eagle F1's 17"s on my sports/vrx thing they are awesom! best tyre I've ever had next closest were $350 firestones I had on it a few years ago, however they don't make those anymore but they had awesom grip when they were bald as.
Nankang's 20" on my ralliart and they are a realitively cheap/good tyre.
they are good and depending on what size rim you have are probably the best value for money tyre I can recommend..

thanks for replies, having had to spend $420 ea on tyres for my SR1 Astra Turbo (note Dunlop SP2000 from memory. failure of the side walls . cracks developed starting from the embossed lettering ..aparently common on XR6s which were also fitted with these...had to buy a complete set after one failed big time on the freeway and the others were found unsafe to run )ones perspective on what is expensive tends to shift...agree less tyre more money ...two new Yokohama's for my F100...$380...go figger
