My TF turned up home yesterday with a new fandangled exhaust :D
I now run a straight through 2.5" mandrel bent system to berklee sports muffler and pretty stainless 3" tip. Resonator = GONESKIES!!!
Sounds great, has a nice gurgle at high end, and have noticed a substantial pick up in second gear. It idles and cruises at a nice note (not loud, but noticeable), but when the foot goes down there is a noticeable change in note- a lot deeper. Very very happy :D Will get pics and sound clip up tonight.
Cheers to the boys at Lee's Exhaust on Moss St for a great job (and mates rates...)

Pics up. Can't get a decent sound clip on my phone, but i guarantee the sound isn't tinny. It's reasonably deep and smooth on acceleration, and quieter on idle. It also has a fairly noticeable 'bark' at the top of each gear.

how much is it just for the muffler? do you know? and does anyone know if it would sound tinny with just a muffler and stock system. i want to get a muffler but am too scared of geting a tinny hyundai excel note.

I just got a muffler. A hand made straight through muffler. Sounds nice, not tinny at all, but at the same time it's not overbearing. I didn't want a really loud exhaust. I think it was $175.

Go for it. It's actually the muffler that determines 90% of how it's gonna sound, I doubt you'd notice much difference going from stock to 2.5" piping, maybe none at all.
Get a quality muffler though, there really is a world of differenc in the way they sound compared to cheapo ones. I've got a Magnaflow, can't recomend them enough. Pricy, but you get what you pay for, sounds fantastic...well worth the extra cash over a cheapo muffler IMO.
You're gonna be hearing you exhaust constantly...pays to get it right, or it'll irritate you to no end.

im another magnaflow fan... you could be paying $400ish for just a rear muffler fitted, with tip but you wont match the sound with anything cheaper... they sound brilliant
