Hi guys just had some bad news my tp station wagon is only working on 3 cylinders can anyone help me not sure what to do ....
not being very mechaniclly minded is it a big job to fix should i get a recon motor? will that be cheaper than fixing it?can you advise where to go in perth to either get it fixed or for a fitted recon motor? she is still running thanks in advance ok just a bit shakey at the lights

pull one lead off a plug at a time
if there is no change in the engine the problem is with that cylinder the lead is off
if the leads sparkle at night in the dark they need changing
check the distributor and plugs and leads plus the coil
whats the service history and tuning of your car
if the engine is not burning oil the motor should be ok
the valves are hydraulic next get a compression test on each cylinder

What condition is the rest of the car in? You can pick up first gens now for <$1000, that may be your best option.

The rest of the car is in fairly good condition so i guess $1000.00 would be the cheapest way out eh where can i get one from in perth.

I would look at a valve problem in the head
if the other cylinders have high compression
other options a second hand motor fitted at a wrecker
or buy a 2.6 engine you can hear running in a car
to rebuild your own is a lot of $$$
just in rings bearings full gasket set timing chains seals and head work
over $700 what ever way you go
check ebay for engines :doubt:
