G'day guys, as most of you sydneysiders know its been raining a storm, esp here on the beaches, but ive got a really bizarre problem and ive no idea whats causing it! Whenever i return to the car after a while, (when in direct rain) there is a considerable pool of water in the pasengers footwell... i was like woa wtf, and put a towel down but it has been returning consistently... its nothing stupid, like a window open or a door ajar, nor is it leaking through the air vents (i think  ) it seems, like lake george, to be coming out of nothingness and filling the footwell (quite litterally, a lot of water) ....HELP! lol my car is sinking!!!.... Any ideas boys?

Cheers,
Adz

1st possibility: Your seals are rooted and need new ones. Dad's ol' falcon did the same thing. It wasn't fun when he went through a puddle and wet everyone inside the car.

2nd possibility (scary:confused: ): You've got a crack behind you dash thats letting water in through from outside/the engine bay. Try cleaning up all the water, then take someone for a drive. ask them if they can feel a draft. If they can, you could have a crack or crapped out seal under/behind your dash.

I hope this helps, good luck man, that seriously sucks.

:doubt: im 99% sure its not the seals... it doesnt come in when i drive thru puddles, not that thats much of a possiblility now with it being 140mm off the deck...but it seems to be coming thru the floor????  taking out the carpet will be a bitch...

In Sydney tonight and tomorrow morning, it will be batten down the hatches and stay inside. With the storm arriving early morning and not leaving until the afternoon. You could be doing more bailing tomorrow. Maybe if you sat in the car during the storm, you might see where the water is coming from. Good luck and I hope you do find the leak.

ok, now im REALLY confused, i pulled back some carpet and whatnot, and was watch for drops or a flow from somewhere, but to my total amazement, the water, no joke, came directly up in the ridge between the chasis, and the semi-MDF stuff on the bottom of the footwell, (below the carpet) i kept drying it up, but it kept coming back...lol so i turned the car around to face UP the street, and what do u know, water stops...im just praying its not going down the back now, if it wasnt already...checked engine bay as well, nothing major leaking thru that.... all seals in place.... WTF, anyone else had this??

You should write to your local priest telling him you have a holy car that can turn air into water. That's really not cool.

Robs car had a similar problem recently as well.. and guess who had to have her feet on the wet floor

We narrowed it down to the window seal , and while it didnt look like there was a gap, it was actually slowley running in near the top of the window, but then running along the top of window and down slighly behind the glove box area, then, alas soaking the floor...

now on top of your firewall from the engine bay side there will be some plastic vents at the base of the windscreen. Remove those and take a look to see if there's a build up of dirt\dead leafs thats made a rust hole which is leaking water into the cabin. I had the same leak and found that to be the cause so check it and see.
