Hi all,
The trusty family TR/SE wagon is in need of new shocks all round and I 'm interested if anyone has any particular recommendations. It's about to be pressed into learner duties for my first born and the objective is to make the old girl (that's the car..!) as safe as possible for this purpose.
Not really looking for performance mods but any tips welcome: what to buy, where to take it (southern Sydney) or what I should pay.

Cheers
John M

Well I've got Monroe GT Gas's in my TR wagon. The new shocks made such a difference, you don't realise how buggered the old ones are till the new ones are in lol. If you have simple tools it really isn't much of a job to change them over, the rears are simple as, the fronts you'll have to get spring compressors for, but again pretty simple.

If you do it yourself, before buying the shocks, have a quick look at what condition the old bump stops are in as mine were rooted and the new shocks don't come with new ones :(.

I had KYB struts and shocks in my old KR, and they were quite harsh. I've heard Monroes aren't too bad, firm without being undriveable.

Is the car lowered? The Monroes seem to get rooted very quicky by low springs, in my experence. The KYB ones seem to be lasting better
