After my last post, below, the mechanics at Mitsubishi seemed to have fixed the problem: A faulty antenna ring in the iginition.

I drove the car for 1 week solid with absolutely NO problems but after about a week the battery light began to flick on and off continuously for 2 days until the original problem returned ie. car not starting first time and choking while being driven.

The car is now back at Mitsubishi and they have checked the alternator and said it is fine.......HELP!!

ANY IDEAS??????????

I have a 2003 TL VRX which has had some intermittant starting problems that I have previously posted about.(Many thanks to Martybugs for his helpful article)

However, now the problem has developed to the car stalling/losing all power (including ABS and power steering) at random intervals, including when travelling at speed. Generally when it happens the engine just cuts out completely but other times it feels like it is choking. After it cuts out the car usually restarts after 2 or 3 times. I cant work out whether the engine is just shutting down or whether it could be a fuel problem. Some of the time the fuel emmission light comes on but when it cuts out completely ALL warning lights come on.

Does anyone think the starting problems are related to this problem or are they seperate? If they are seperate- what do you think it could be?

My engine light came on a few wks ago telling me my dissy was sick. Was just water in it but I asked around at the time and it seems a common thing for TJ cars with 100+ km to have a sick dizzy - but mechanics like to talk every problem up don't they.

Is the car giving you any diagnostic codes?

I have a TL, not a TJ, and it only has 48,000 km on it.
Nope, no diagnostic codes at all no one can identify the problem!!

Maybe the ECU itself is causing the problems, and isn't kicking out codes because of that?
