Howdy folks,
I just installed a new cd player in my mates TF but now the cluster and back lights dont light up. also the memory function is a bit funny. All fuses seem to be in a working order and does anyone know where the relay for the cluster and tailights are? I found them in the footwell fusebox, but my crazy mate painted the cover of his engine fuse box so i dont know what's what.

Any suggestions people??

thank,

peace..

maury.

if the memory on the headunit is playing up it sounds like you've connected a power/ground wire to something it shouldn't be connected to, and subsequently blown a fuse in the engine bay. I can't remember its exact location, but from memory its a yellow fuse and sits in a little fuse holder to the bottom right of the engine bay.

*EDIT*
Could be wrong with the fuse colour but pretty sure on the location, it's too cold to go out and check :P.

your having the same problem as what i had make sure all the wires are taped up if the wires touch any metal you will blow a fuse

yep that fuse that i think it's the radio and lights fuse in a yellow holder thingy, yeah those fuses are fine, and nothing seems to be blown so i got no idea. Also my mate is delivers pizza's at night and he's driving without lights right now so im trying to solve this problem asap.!

If the fuse hasn't blown you must have a short in the wiring, double check the wiring by removing them one by one and seeing if the lights come back on (though normally you would have blown a fuse with dodgy wiring).

When I installed the CD in my wife's Lancer, I put the multimeter on the wires and found one that was shorted to ground. So, I hooked it up to the ground wire on the CD. However, when I turned on the parker lights that "ground" wire went to +12V and blew the fuse - the ground wire was shorted to the CD chassis, which was fastened to the bodywork. It had the cluster lights and the tail lights (not brake or rear indicators) on that circuit.

So, when you replace the fuse, if you have a "ground" wire in the wiring harness, test the voltage with the park lights on.

You are over loading the earth wire you have connected the head unit too.. Make a new one straight to the body. very common issue..:)
