Hello everyone,

I am in the process of buying a 94 TS V6 Wagon and I found aussiemagna last night while I was looking for some general info and I must say I am very impressed with the amount of information here and how willing people are to help others. Top Work!

This will be the first Magna I have owned, I've been a Ford man previously (The TS in fact won over a 93 EB-II Ghia), so I don't know a lot about them... so I'll probably have a few more questions in the future :)

But for now, I just have a couple of questions...

The LH headlight lens cover has what looks like a bullet hole in it, probably from a stone or whatever, I'm guessing though that it will be pretty easy to replace. Is this right?

Also, in the centre console, underneath the stereo, is a hole which looks as though something has been removed before selling, what was supposed to be there? And if it's only something small, how easy is it to find a replacement part?

And finally, what is the main differences between the TR and the TS. From what I have seen so far, they both look pretty much the same...

Anyway! Hello again to everyone!

Cheers!

Hey there, i dunno about your questions but how much are you paying for it? (I'm currently searching for TR/TS/KR/KS to buy).

Getting it for $5600 including on roads and a 3yr warranty, and it's got about 210,000 on the clock.

Mainly cosmetic differences between the TR and TS. I dont know..but if anything mechanical it would've been suspension.

axelr8, hi and welcome! :D
Firstly I dunno if you have seen this post yet, http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=402&highlight=tr+ts+differences but it should help answer your q on the TR-Ts differences. An excellent effort by Killbilly.

As for underneath the stereo, it sounds like you could be missing a DIN tray? (ie. small tray for sunnies wallet ect.) I'm not too familiar with the wagons but I assume that the dash dosen't vary that much to the sedans.
Try and get a digicam pic.

I wouldn't expect replacing a headlight cover to be too difficult. Hope I helped.

An excellent effort by Killbilly

LOL..I was actually doing something outside and only wrote a quick answer..sorry about the abruptness!

Cosmetic differences:
Exterior - Grille, rear boot garnish (all colour coded in the TS's)

Thats about all the exterior ones I can think of...Oh the KS Verada had a different grille again and the sexy multi parabolic headlights, but had a different front bar to the KR Verada, the KS is like the normal TR/TS front bar.

Interior, I think they [TS's] all had the cushion arm rest thing in the centre console, which the TR's didnt (in the exec's anyway), umm other than that..I think that's all...They're very very similar, probably different interior options as in materials for the seats etc.

Ps as for the replacement dash part you could get one from a wrecker for MAX $20 bux piss easy to install there's prolly even a few links here by killbilly on how to install it :)

The LH headlight lens cover has what looks like a bullet hole in it, probably from a stone or whatever, I'm guessing though that it will be pretty easy to replace. Is this right?

Well for cheap starters, just cover it with sticky tape or whatever so that water/moisture doesn't get in. Otherwise you can get new headlamp lens from www.ozeparts.com.au. But unless you know about glasswork and removing silicone, I suggest you don't do that.

You could also buy a new headlamp from them (which I did) or buy the original part from MMAL (which is double the price).

Alternatively, upgrade to the Verada's parabolic headlamps! (Like what WGNBOY said)

Also, in the centre console, underneath the stereo, is a hole which looks as though something has been removed before selling, what was supposed to be there? And if it's only something small, how easy is it to find a replacement part?

Well it just came to my head, if it really is the missing DIN tray, well you probably won't be able to replace it. Because on the Magna's (Not the Verada) the DIN tray is actually part of the radio surround panel. So either the owner had cut it off or we're not talking about the same thing here. You could try and grab a radio surround panel from the wreckers or such, otherwise find another DIN tray and try to put it together yourself :) but it wouldnt be perfect...

Hope this helps...

I would like to have a go at replacing the lense but I wouldn't know where to start so I'll probably end up replacing the whole thing.

As for the multi parabolic headlights, I don't think that's something that I'm going to do... they look good from what I've seen (with the orange indicators) but I just don't think it's worth it. What benefits do they have over the standard headlights??

As for the DIN tray... if that's what the part that I have highlighted (this isn't mine, haven't picked it up yet) is called then that's what is missing...

Anyways, big thanks to everyone for the welcome and the helpful advice :D

I just did my front LH head light on my TR wagon.

Cost me $120 for a new non genuine lamp with bulbs etc.

Took 20 minutes to replace.

Pop out grill and side indicator. Undo four bolts. Remove wiring harness from lamps. Reverse for new one and then get alinged.

Remeber the Magnas aren't as great for towing as the rwd falcon but are a nicer drive and have better build quality than the Falc.

ah, so it is a DIN tray that you're missing. If you can get to a wreckers i'm sure you'd be able to find one! Heck, put a post up and mayhaps a AM member will have one floating around.

woohoo... Picked my car up today! Awesome ride! The V6 is a lot more powerful than I thought it would be.

Have to do a couple of things more on it apart from what I have already mentioned. It needs a new globe in the LH headlight as it only is doing parking light and not normal headlight. And I didn't notice that there was no interior light, so I'll have to pick one of them up, and I think the back interior light needs a new globe as that's not working either.

Can I relocate the back interior light to the front without any drama?

And for the Sports/Economy button, which is which, I mean is pushed in for Economy or Sports?

Anyways, I will post some pics tomorrow when it's light again! :)

Cheers!

:D When i first seen that photo i thought- hey that looks just like my interior, he has the same cd player aswell! oh wait a minute... it is mine

Anyway, does the highlighted part look the same in everyone elses?

ah, so it is a DIN tray that you're missing.

I thought he meant that his looks the same as the photo & was wondering if anything goes in this space.(which it doesn't, it's just storage.) :?

Yeh, now that I've got it home and had a good look myself, it definitatly is the DIN tray and what someone has done is just smash out the bottom of it... don't know why but they've stuck a little box for a in-car phone kit down there.
