I did a throttle body clean on my TP today, and afterwards the idle when car is warm, has jumped up to 1200rpm, instead of the usual 850. Just wonderin if anyone knows what I might have done in the process for this to happen?

Did you bump the idle screw?

From what I can remember it's a long screw on the intake side of the throttle body.

Just wind it back a little bit while the car is running.

just twist the cam screw of the throttle cable adjustment
or the two screws holding the cable 2 x10 mm adjust the cable that way
on the firwall side of the plenium

looks like your clean did make a difference

Are u sure thats it isn't just the cold weather making the base idle (cold start) adjust so it's esayer to start. Or did u put the tps out buy a bit when u where cleaning it??

The TP's didn't have an automatically adjusting idle dependent on the start conditions. It runs the same whether it's cold or hot. Sometimes after cleaning you may notice a significant change in idle speed. My car jumped from an idle of 500 to 1800 RPM after I cleaned it (the ISC was sticky with old oil sludge)!

If it is an EFI model, then there is a procedure you must follow to reset the idle:

1. Run the car until operating temperature, check the timing (it should be at 5 deg BTDC), then turn off the car
2. Connect an engine tachometer if available (more accurate). You can connect the tacho to the white shielded wire on top of the power regulator connector (you will have to remove the rubber boot).
3. Remove the ISC motor connector plug
4. Loosen the accelerator cable bolts to allow cable to move
4. Loosen the throttle set screw until it clears the plate it touches (the screw that is visible from the top)
5. Start the car and take note of the idle speed
6. Adjust the base idle screw underneath the throttle set screw until the idle is as specified (note you CANNOT increase or decrease the idle from what is specified. It will not idle correctly if you do)
7. Re-tighten the throttle set screw until it touches the plate and idle changes slightly, then loosen the screw by half a turn
8. Stop the car and leave the ignition in the "ON" position
9. Using suitable probes and a multimeter, check terminals 1 and 3 on the TPS sensor and ensure the voltage is 0.5v. If not, loosen the screws on either side of the sensor and rotate gently until it is as specified (do not overtighten the screws as they do snap easily)
10. Turn the car off and reconnect the ISC motor connector plug
11. Reattach the accelerator cable, ensuring there is about 1cm free play in the cable
12. Remove the ECU fuse (in engine bay fuse box) for 15 seconds, then reconnect
13. While holding your foot on the accelerator pedal slightly, start the car and hold at 2000 RPM for 30 seconds. You must have your foot on the accelerator during start, as it is required to calibrate the idle correctly.
14. Allow the car to go back to idle, and turn on and off the air conditioner a few times to ensure the idle step-up is working correctly.

Hopefully that should help significantly :D
