I'm considering changing my car and noticed that Sprintex has a 2003 supercharged VRX for sale...

I wonder if it's alright to ask your opinions about the supercharged magna (opinions of those who own one are highly sought) given the light of a sticky thread discussing the company.

But I just want opinions to help me make a decision.

Thanks.

depends on what you want to know

what do you want to know?

you are better off finding out who has the sprintex contraption on their car and pm'ing them...

otherwise this thread will fill up with too much :spam: and people who know everything but havent owned a sprintexed magna giving opinions

Andrewd last time I looked you had a supercharged magna for sale did you?

My advice, supercharged or not, make sure you get the AWD version, not the FWD version.

If you've ever been in at least a FWD Sprintex magna, they pull friggin hard. never been in an AWD one yet, but thumbs up for the FWD version.
And if im correct if its the Yellow VRX thats supercharged for sale that thing has had some major headwork done and is good for about 250kw atfw

nah TZABOY has the most hp, the wheel the yelow one was 257kw at the motor
well the fwd sprintexed ones are gay lol

atleast i can floor mine and load it up and go.... ohh yeah... there is only one thats poven faster too...

difference between fwd and 2wd is you can use 100% of the performance in the awd 100% of the time eg wet ice snow mud rain dry etc... and the 2wd well lol...

ps if mine wasnt broken it would run a 13 just press go and thats it anyone can do it..

my advise to the op is to really decide if they wanna spend so much $$ on an old 2nd hand magna.. or buy a newer car such as an XR6T

Yes, I am in WA and it is the silver AWD VRX with the sprintex supercharger that is on sale.

I would like to know about any issues with these version magnas. I know that the spercharger pulls quite hard too.

I expect that the car would be a Sprintex test car, but the kms is around 75000kms and I am sure that it would be tuned right...:D

the only person on here im aware of with a sc'd tl is doggy or something like that i think, havent heard from him in a while, most people on here have sc'd their tj's.... cos tl onwards is bloody ugly and no amount of super charging will change that haha... although i wouldnt mind a black tl-tw vrx... dunno why though lol

Chances are it's tuned horribly. If it's just a standard Sprintex tune from their ECU it'll be very rich. Heaps more potential there with a proper tune and either a piggy back or full replacement ECU.

In terms of the car itself, I'd say go for it. Heaps of power, comfort, AWD grip, fuel economy will be a bit ordinary but you'd expect that with a supercharged 3.5L AWD sedan. Not really any known problems with those cars - The gearbox should be strong enough to withstand a good thrashing as it's the same gearbox out of the EVO 7.5 GTA's. Probably only little things like windscreen seals, fuel sender unit are what to look for. Put it this way, if I had the money to buy that car and was in WA, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I reckon Sprintex's TL AWD would be an awesome car to have. But $30,000 is I little dear for it. I wouldn't pay a cent more than $20,000.
---Second hand TL AWD - $14-16K???? not too sure (someone correct me if I'm wrong)
---You don't get much money out of mods even if its S/C so add another $4-6K to it.

Yo disrespected me homie, I'ma pop a cap in yo ass. :D
My major let down was the 4sp Auto Gearbox (unlike the 5p triptronic and 5p manual), it didn't want to push past the 155kw ATW mark. The torque convertor couldn't handle that much power therefore enabling a failsafe and reaching max power at 4900rpm, so my option was to either convert it to manual or buy a new car.... I bought a new car lol

that blody sux dude... stupid transmissions!!!

i wondered why mine made more power and had to turn 4 wheels, we both have similar mods extractors exhaust etc...

still the 155kwatw isnt that bad at 4900rpm then... cos my dyno graph the power only keeps going up peaking at rpm cut

That's a scary thought there...haha...

I would assume that being a Sprintex car, the workshop would tune it properly since it's like their show off car if you know what I mean...I guess it's no harm if a piggy back or replacement ECU were installed though..

very tempting..the only other issue, as someone else brought up, is that the engine may have been trashed during the installation/testing phase and it's hard to know what the condition of the engine is like on the inside...

However, if they do give some warranty on the car, that would be sweet...

haha, the thought of it

What about insurance issues, do the usual insurance companies insure supercharged magnas or does one have to go to Justcars or similar?

Cheers

That car has been for sale for a very long time if I'm not mistaken. If they really are asking $30K for it, then that probably explains why.

Definetly not worth $30k.

I think the asking price is now $22.5K or thereabouts....

My friend had a supercharged magna- the power was great, but it chewed through the petrol around town. It was a fun car though.

Would you know how much distance he would get on a tank of fuel?

I'm guessing the capacity of the fuel tank in a mgna i around 60L?

they have a 71L tank

i get under 10L/100km on the highway and thats with the occasional overtaking of huge lines of cars  and with aircon on..

city i get between 14-17L/100km and i always accelerate heavily..

you could easily get better by taking it slow and having normal wheels on the car

keeping in mind that my car is awd auto supercharged and has 20" wheels and more weight than stock its pretty damn good...(only uses about 1L/100km more than stock... sometimes not even that)

insurance im paying $400pa with all mods listed at an agreed value of 35k comprehensive
