The trim surrounding the inside door handles, ill be vinyling them soon and wanted to know if the whole door frame has to be removed to get to them or if the surround itself can just pop off? if that makes any sense.

If you want to break the lugs holding the panel on and have several lose bits of plastic and metal in your doorframe, you can pull it off without taking the door trim off. However, it's better if you do take the door trim off obviously, then you can pull the little metal clip things that hold the panel off with some needle nose pliers (make them straight again by hammering them against the floor, they will get bent trust me) and vynal your door, then reapply, pushing the clip ring things back on :) Easy.

And be careful, those little plastic bastards break easily!
When reapplying the clips, I found that one of those socket screwdrivers (the ones that use hex bits), with the bit removed, is very handy for pushing the clip securely over the plastic; the socket of the screwdriver pushes the metal clip, whilst the plastic slides up the centre.

lol mate just rip the ****ers off.
When you have the doortrim off and you've finished the insert, just slap on some skiaflex to both sides and lay some heavy books down. by the next day they should of dried and would probably be just as good if not better then before!

?
Overspray of what?? He's retrimming the inserts, no spraying involved, and you need to well-and-truly get behind the insert to fold the vinyl over. Can't be done on-car.

1. Remove all screws. Try not to break the covers, some have little bits of plastic that hold the cover onto the screw.
2. Remove the circlip from the window winder. There are several methods, I made myself a hook from the spring off a broken plastic clothes peg.
3. Push against the surround around the door handle, and slide the handle forward, releasing it. Unclip.
4. Gently use a large screwdriver or similar to go around the bottom of the door, levering out the clips. Really get the driver in there, you want to lever with the round shaft, not the head.
5. Double-check you have all of the screws out!!
6. Flip up the released door trim, crawl in there, and with a screwdriver use a combination of levering and pushing to release the metal claws at the window frame. You could just rip, but I prefer not to gouge the frame.
7. Once the trim is removed, work on removing the metal clips holding the surround, without breaking the plastic pegs! Very hard to do, I used a jeweler's screwdriver to gradually work them off, levering the claws of the clip up the peg.
8. While you have the trim off, may as well add some speaker pods!
9. Glue up your vinyl surrounds. Much better to get a spare set first, and work on them over a few nights, that way you can still use your car. Won't cost much for a spare set, maybe $10.
10. See tips above for assembly.
11. Reassemble. Getting the metal clips at the window frame back on can be a bitch.
PS. You could just lever up the trim and take off the surrounds like that, instead of fully removing the trim, but it's more trouble than it's worth.

yeah that how i did mine ^, but RoGuE_StreaK if you can be bothered you should do the carpet on the speaker pods aswell, i did and it looks really good

Seriously looked at doing the speaker pods, but the way the top of the carpet butts up to the plastic meant some serious headaches from my perspective, either had to cut the vinyl exactly to size beforehand, which when using contact means you can't make a single mistake in the alignment, or go along with a sharp blade after glueing, and for a reason I can't remember I ruled that out.
Gave the carpet a trim, and it seemed to come up alright. Asked a few people, and they said they prefered the carpet on that bit to the vinyl, so I think I'll stick with it for the moment.
