lower control arm bushes to remove
a ball joint tapered breaker bar is a handy tool
undo the stabaliser tortion bar link
undo the lower ball joint nut then undo the bush support brackets
around the front lower control arm may be a bracket this has to be undone
to give room for the through bolt holding the front control arm bushes to be removed
the smaller front can be hacksawed through the outer casing or a press is required
to remove the old front bushes break out the old bush
then hacksaw the old metal bush shell till you can remove it
do not hacksaw through the lower control arm or it will be a trip to a wrecker
the rears are just pull off
done the job several times
the whole lower arm has to be removed from the car
so lower ball joint undone
to fit the new neprene split type bushes with the metal crush tube a G clamp is used to feed the inner pipe through the two bushes
the lower control arms can to be removed and taken to a suspension shop to save on labour costs
no suspension part or steering component can be welded

Let's ask a few questions first before writing up a workshop manual?
Does he want to replace front lower or rear lower or both?
Does he have a V6 or 4cyl as the rears are different on both (unless a TR Elite)
DO NOT use anything but rubber if you do not want rubbish response in your front end, excessive movement after 3 months and squeaks!
Mits charge approx $150 each side for the complete lower control arm, this will then also replace your lower ball joint which is not such a bad thing.
The rear bush if a v6 is designed with the center sleeve to be bonded for a damn good reason, if you replace with urethane then you lose this and the lower arm will float

I went down the replacement control arm path on my old KR, and it's well worth the saving in both time and money. I paid $380 for a pair of Noltec lower control arms, sway bar bushes, steering rack mounts, and tie rod ends.
Mine were completely buggered when they came out; the rear bush was hanging out of the arm.
I'll admit the Noltec bushes were a little on the hard side, but on Sydney's roads that's nothing unexpected. The improvement in handling was incredible. Every single noise was gone, every previously jarring bump and jolt gone.
I did research the Mitsubishi OEM gear, but at over $1000 for what I've listed above you can see why I chose urethane.
