I dont wanna blow my own horn here but I'm friggin wrapped with how the front bar came out. Spent all of $37 in paint and it was out of a CAN!

Well, it's not quite done yet, but here's the Magna I just bought with a Diamante front, respect and enjoy! My car is sitting behind it. At the moment I've taken the bar off the white one, primed it, painted it, and I'm finishing it all off tomorrow so I'll have some photos after that :D

KR alloys have been on for about a year, upgrade to 16" or 17" is on the cards.
Side strips are colour contrasted, still gotta do both bumpers. Driving lights coming in maybe this weekend.
KS grille with recently re-chromed slats, KS blinkers via Gerard (I think).
Yes, needs lowering, might be some interesting things happening on that front.

New one to the forums with a 1991 TR Magna Executive, currently family owned. Needs some work done, including a new transmission, new paint and a lot of minor things. These photos were taken a few weeks back and since then i've cleaned the engine bay, washed off the outside and ditched a cheap wheel cover or two. lol

Some newer ones, took these after 2 days down at U-Pull-It last week to get a few extra parts. Starting with the entire car shot, and yes I know, the wheel covers are terrible. I'd rather run stockies than these (which I may just do)

Pulled a new rear panel for the boot. Purely cosmetic, but at the price of only $15 I thought "why not?" and went for it. Looks great compared to the old grey one. And yes, I do notice the brake light out.

It's only a tiny mod, but it completely lifts the look of the front. i personally love it.

All up took me about 25 hours to make perfect (to my liking) and cost me around $45 of materials + $21 (a bit rich) for the grille from local wreckers.

Just posting up a couple of shots i took from the highest point in Newcastle, being Braye Park in Waratah for those playing at home, just before a thunder storm. The first is looking east out towards the habour and the second is looking roughly in sydneys general direction. The difference is amazing. I have a better photo of the storm that actually hit Newcastle on monday but ill post them in the members lounge

Time for a bit of an update I think. A lot of the recent work has been done under the bonnet, but the exterior hasn't been neglected. Fitted a Diamante bar and realigned the grille.

Seems like every pic I take is on a cloudy day. That was taken at the AMC//SA meet, December 2nd at Bunnings, Parafield Airport.

The next batch of mods are already underway, it'll be sent off to have the wiring done for the front bar, some drilling work to the boot lid to reattach the factory rear spoiler, a set of orange front indicators, and then respray it. Could also be a set of rims in there as well, and I have my eye on some vinyl door trims. I'll see how the finances hold up. :)

Pretty certain I posted that in the "New Front Bar" thread, but not here. Definitely agreed on the rims, i'll let those come first. Twice now it's had those fake wheel covers on there, Dad bought them just for the sake of not having the stock rims exposed but after these, i'm all more fond of the dull grey steel look. lol

So I can't get done for discussion in the thread :P, I found 2 more pics that I forgot to mention. The headlights have been given a little "upgrade", not HID's but the light output is clearer, and not blinding either (pardon the terrible phone camera shot):

One of the engine bay tasks was the horribly corroded battery box and battery. I literally tapped the box and watched it crumble into shards of rusted red steel. No after shots yet, but I just have to show the one before shot.

Replaced the battery with a new MAXX-Century battery and a new battery box from a wrecked TS, it's in perfect condition but I can't get an after shot yet as the box is away to be sanded, rust proofed and painted.

Time for an update. Colour coded the bumpers, debadged, cleaned the engine bay, painted the manifold heat shield black. Fixed the tapping, turns out I had a blown rocker cover gasket which was just leaking the normal lifter sound. Excuse the hubmags, still negotiating rims and window tinting. Need to paint the rest of it still, get a new clip for the TPS plug (as seen in pic 4), plus the CV's, engine mounts and water pump as precautionary.

Only problem I can see is the camera- makes the bumpers look different from the body colour but in person they match up pretty well.

UPDATE: Managed to get ahold of Magna Elite tail lights to match the boot garnish, and also a dash clock. No pics yet but i'll try and get some ASAP.

Jindabyne over the weekend...

Drove like a champion all the way down from Sydney.

with current fuel prices i'm driving this a lot more as it's getting 6.4L/100km.
but before you guys go wow - because it's hand built - here's the list of problems after 6 weeks of ownership:

-Indicator lamp's fogged up - on the inside; waiting replacement to arrive.
-Heater doesn't work - which i found out last weekend in dunsborough when it was raining cats and dogs outside and i had to put the a/c on as it was fogging up big time inside.
-Speedo reads 15% too high - Dealer waiting on instructions from Lotus to fix since 2008 models had a new fandangle electronic dash, & could be the reason I'm getting this unreal fuel efficiency - damn!
-Somethings broken off inside the passenger door last week and is still rattling about inside....
-Radios stop functioning yesterday - so the whole car is rattling now....

Gimme a mitsubishi anytime! ........ok not really. :)

The headers are Advance A346i extractors, with an upsized flex pipe and new piping back to the catalytic converter. Gives the engine a nice note while accelerating and a definite increase in pulling power. :)

The second photo is a crappy phone cam image taken at Tonsley Park. Have to swing by again sometime and get a better one.

Gave the car a good wash and polish this morning and took it out to get a few happy snaps.

Fear the blue stripes of doom! 20 Kwatw right there!

EDIT: Since ive been asked what the hell possesed me to paint blue stripes on my car, ill explain. I hit a barbed wire fence and put two gouges up the front of my car, all i had was blue spray pack and some masking tape, by the time we got home from the trip, theyd kind of become a running joke, so i decided to paint them down the grille, im getting it resprayed at some point anyway, so meh.. :P

Well I finally found myself owning a second gen again.. found a bargain today.
$1000 registered & roadworthy, drives like a dream. Completely stock. Needs a few little things but I'm very happy with it.

there's alot of nice gen1 gen2 for sale in qld. been tempted to buy acouple

I'm probably biased but I think the 2nd gen is the nicest. Not too boxy, not too big, but its a bit of a fuel guzzler for its size particularly in 2.6L form. I like the TR for the grey plastic "skirting" below the top edge of the bumpers rather than the colour coded bumper of the TSs - if I could I'd have a whole car covered with that,

I'm a bit sad to see it go after owning it for over 17 years. Oddly enough, I went to the auction with the intention of buying a small hatch and getting away from the line of Chrysler/Mitsubishi's in my family (I've pretty much never driven anything else in my life) but the Magna seemed better value than the Corollas, so there you go. It's been pretty damn good to me.
