I have a bad leak coming in on the front left hand side under the dash. Not that i am complaining about the rain but does anybody have any ideas. Took it to a windscreen place and they said because it is still the original Mitsubishi windscreen it would not be the screen
Any ideas ?

They didnt want to charge you $200 for new seals anyways?

Um, it may be under the actual dash. :(

Am having same problem.

Have ruled out A/C drain hole through firewall and poor fitting plenum covers (under the wipers). Actually stuck an ice cream container over the air inlet for the interior vents which is where the water could enter.

Seem to be able to get it to leak in heavy rain with the car parked sloping down hill. Had similar problem with Corolla that turned out to be the front window seal. Am leaning towards a reseal but windscreen is sandblasted from trips so may replace screen as well - when I can find $450. Another possible seal symptom is that after rain, the botom of the inside of the windscreen fogs up pretty quickly unless I use the a/c.

Check your heater core. They do rust out and leak. May be difficult to see but its a possibility if its not the windscreen. Check your radiator levels if they are down it may also point to this item.

Ta for your help..........Yes the bottom of the windscreen fogging up is a positive sign that there is a water leak somewhere. When i finally get the car back from the garage thats in for the 2nd time for warranty work from the gas conversion that got fitted 2 weeks ago i will be doing some more investigation. My kneejerk reaction was the plenum covers under the wipers as they are fairly well cracked and missing chunks. When i rang Mitsubishi in regard to what this item was called they called it a front deck garnish which to me to be a bit of a weird name for this !

Thanks for your help but i can have a safe bet that its not the heater or any other type of hose that runs under the dash. I only get the leaking problem during rain .

The seals on the front windscreen, and rear window are a know very common fault on the TJ Magna. The rear can get so bad that your rear window starts to work loose and rattle.
They are both badly prone to early perishing.

The seals were changed for the TL-TW model (the rear window seal is a completely new design) update to a much better, harder wearing rubber.

Surprised about this fault with Mitsubishi's experience in manufacturing cars in Australia, and never had this problem with my TP and TS Magna's which I owned for much longer.

Wish I had picked up this on both my front and rear seals whilst it was still under warranty!!!!
