wondering what sort of bits and pirces are available so far,

im in 2 minds as what to buy, its either a low K WRX for over 20G or a 380 sx well below 20g with 10 000k ish on clock.

while a rex would be just a dream, the 380's interior is far far superior and will have about 90grand less k's lol ( i definetely know what the smart boring answer is as to which car i should get but i also like to live a bit)

anyway id feel alot better about buying a 380 if i knew i could play with it a little, say rims lowered quiet zorst and a s/c down track, cos i know what im like and i cant just have a nice modern car and not make it my own, so i dont want to buy one and feel the bug and end up ruining the car

so yeah whats available or in the pipework?

From what I know;
There are RPW headers being trialled - Although they are having engine light issues with the auto's...

Sprintex are producing/in production/trialling a s/c for the 380 TMR although I read on here there might be isssues in s/c-ing a normal 380 engine due to the reduction in block/head strength from it's evolution from the 3.5L Magna.:doubt:

Other than that, I know little of the aftermarket bits for the 380.

*You'll be able to dump it on 20s, and if u get an SX, try and source VRX/GT headlights.

*dual exhausts isnt a problem, seen that done. Also going from 3 cats to 1 will give you more power.

*Stand alone ecu, after exhaust is done you will probably see well over 150kw at the wheels.

did i mention 20s?

Go the scooby, though low kays is key. You will never look back :)

Do you want another NA car again though? The S/C setup will be at least 7k and will likely have the same shortcomings (bad tuning) as the magna. Depends what you want.

oh i dont doubt that but buying an already modified rex with low k's dont gurantee me of reliablilty issues, cop issues, insurance, issues. Plus im only 21 im not sure if i need a crazy car just yet. and the model wrx im looking at has quite dated interior.

380 is ok speedish if a little slow, but awsome interior, basically brand new, reliability be 100%, insurance will be awsome, cop attention will be nil, and comfort factor for long drives will be top. Also looks as though there may be a big of power to come out of 380 in the future, so im really leaning to a 380 as much as i really want a rex.

anyways ill have to make that decision when i come to it, but right now im curious what performance it has to offer and if the potential power is out weighed buy its big huge mass of 1600kg

well if the s/c is a factory option then i dont think it will have those short comings, but i have grown up alot and am quite over "race cars" lol i am after an alround package, plus i still have my s12 silvia since no one has brought it and thats turbo lols

I've owned 2 rex's, and currently have an 02 club spec evo. Not once had a reliability issue if the correct servicing procedure is taken, though both are unmodified. The advantages of turbo and awd (not to mention sex appeal) outweigh any disadvantages from the chatty interior. Though insurance I agree is a bitch (thankyou justcar), but meh, there are pros and cons of any car.

I think they run fly by wire. So in order to do that, you need a Magna inlet manafold and throttlebody + cable (stonesour...your RPW manafold would go great!!), throw on an e6x, tune to 98 RON with a full exhaust and CAI, RPW manafold, High flow throttle body...you will be seeing EASY 150-160 @ the wheels...

The 380 does run fly by wire but we have already got exchange bored out throttle bodies for these cars take them from an asmatic 60mm out to 72mm so some nice gains there.

If you still have a silvia to play with, surely a reliable ,smooth, roomy 380 could be the way to go.

i bought my magna for the smooth comfy factor and i still have a gsxr1000 to play with when the mood strikes.

Mate the WRX has never been about looks, interior or exterior. It's all about AWD turbo-charged performance for under $40K. You can't really compare the 2 cars, they are in very different categories. One is a big engined fwd cruiser the other a small engined turboed awd racer. It all depends what you are after, if you are not going to be driving your car particularly hard then go for the 380, but if u want to do some track work or just drive quickly in general then go for the WRX. I'm not saying one car is better than the other, they are just different. I have a Magna and a 350Z and they are both good at doing very different things.

lol well i do have to compare both cars, as they r the only 2 cars that i am thinking about,

i would love a new rex but that just not going to happen, and i did say i wanted a very comfortable and modern car aswell which the new rex;s are old rex's not so much.

and yes i know WRX's are all about handling AWD turbo and hills. i am very much into motorsport as are all of my mates who are either building cars or have ready track cars. but there is also alot more to driving a car than the ULEH factor lol, and as i said b4 i still have my s12 with a ca18det in it so that will serve me well .

anyhhoo.... oh i envy you, id love a 350Z probably my favorite sports car to be quite honest, wish there was more in drift australia

go the 380

something nice an modern that will last you 10 years if you look after it (or want it that long)

whereas the wrx although its nice will start to have problems soon as the early model ones are getting to that stage...plus the interior is so uncomfy especially on a longish drive

i would definately go the 380!

I would go the 380... HEAPS nicer daily car. I have been in a few WRXs and can't say I'm that impressed... the interior build quality is... CRAP. Nice engines, nice handling but I would never buy one, I would get very tired of the things I see and use every day on the inside.

The 380 is quite quick for what it is... My mates dad has a 380GT and he raced a sil18 through the hills and just walked away from it. On the straight the 380 didn't stand a chance, but their handling is exceptional for a car of that size. You wont have any worries there.

Some big rims, tint, lowering, stereo and you will have a very smooooooth car, that will look good, go well, handle well and be cheap to insure.

That was probably me that told you that Scotty which I read on these forums. Turns out it was actually fitted by an aftermarket exhaust shop, but the Mitsubishi dealer had them do it. If you want a dual exhaust I'd suggest to go to Nambour Radiator Works - I know the guy that works there - Ant. They have one of the only mandrel benders on the coast.
