Ok now my question is how long does your zort gaskets last??
About 2 months ago my tp got a bit louder and not so quick off the mark. So i poped the bonnet with it running and found the there was an exhaust leak between the bottom of the factroy headers and the top of the flex peice\collecter. So i undid the 3 bolts (whick were lose:rant: ) and found the gasket was pretty much cactus, of off the super cheap for another gasket. Installed the new one add tighened it all up, no worries i thought. Last week the nosie was back , so i checked the bolts and they were lose again so i thought id tighten once more and if they come undone again i'd just lockite them.
So what do ya know they came lose again:rant: . Ok this time took out the bolts and checked the gasket and it looked like the one i pulled out 2 months ago, all black and falling to bits:nuts: surely ud get more than 3 months out of the gasket.
so off to grab a new one plus sure high temp rtv sealant i went , then put it all back and it's fine again but i hope i can get more than a couple of months out of this one.

try this
evenn up the two mating metal surfaces with a flat file

next add plenty of zost gasket then the gasket

then use new spring washers on the bolts??

add a bit of grease to the threads as well

try that
your doing gaskets because the two surfaces are not mating up as well as they should

hmm didn't think about the surface being flat:doubt: . Oh and there is no spring washes so maybe a few of those would do wonders:D
Well i'll just leave it for now and if it needs changing again i'll file the surface and grab some spring washes.

If you can try and get the better gaskets from bursons... those crappy papery-type gaskets with metal inside them from most car shops don't last very long. The permaseal gaskets from bursons are much better in pretty much every way. I use them on my exhaust, and 6 months and still not a problem :D

never used a cheap gasket. the ones i used are made of perferated metal . This time with a good does of rtv sealant and it has worked well.
I always try to buy the best parts when it comes to the magna or any car i own. eg instead of a normal battery i put it a yellow top optima, same goes for things like oils, filters, brake pads, bearings, tyres blah blah bah
i figure if i always use good quailty products and service it a little early that it will be pretty much hassle free running. Which it has apart from electrial issues  my magna runs pretty good. just gotta do somwthing about the looks soon:doubt:

hehe I know what u mean. I always try to do the same. The metal exhaust gaskets are the only way to go really. I usually run mine with mitsubishi parts wherever I can, except things like engine mounts and gaskets, which usually third parties have better quality products for them...
Battery I just got the biggest one I could find to fit the tray, which was a 150RC 550CCA Exide marine battery, so it's more robust than the standard batteries. Only cost $115 too :D

I really need to do some work on the appearance of mine too. Seems clear coat is not designed to last long, as I have holes all over the roof of water getting under the coating and tearing it up... gonna be a costly fix I think though, being metallic paint, and as it is starting over the boot with a couple of small signs it will happen on bonnet soon too :doubt:

Todo in the next few weeks - replace suspension crossmember and engine crossmember (both are bent!) and do timing chains and engine mounts... gonna be a long few weeks, but only the best for my little old runaround hehe

The optima has 850cca. And I managed to pick it up for $150 new:D

Geeze not bad! I guess for mine I wasn't all that worried about the size of the battery... just wanted something better than the little thing that was in it which had cells drying up in and was killing the alternator regulator. Couldn't find one of the optima's for less than $190, and I just can't justify that much for a battery... plus I like the non-maintenance free ones lol

yea there pretty expensive , mine was bought on mates rates. It fits in the tray (no bigger than a normal one)and there also maintenance free , plus being sealed so you can mount them upside down if u see fit(not like u would:nuts: ). Apart from the price the only bad thing about it is it's like twice as heavy as a normal one:rant: but it does have a very thick handle for easyer carrying:cool:
