Hi guys & gals,
To anyone with an Aluminium/Alloy Radiator...
How do you find the engine running temperature during winter?
2nd gen question but 1st or 3rd gen experiences may be the same.
6mths ago I was having trouble with an overheating radiator (my old one was stuffed).
I replaced it with a new Aluminium one which I was very happy with over summer. No over heating rad/engine – in fact she ran slightly lower than half on the temp gauge on the freeway and only got up to the ‘normal’ halfway point around town.
Now we have the winter chill, I’ve noticed the gauge doesn’t climb up as quick (if at all) – especially on the freeway (most of my driving). Even after about 20-30 minutes of 100/110kph freeway driving it’s only at about ¼ on the temp gauge.
Not sure how this ‘cold’ temp effects the engine?
But I sure know how it effects the Car’s Heater – it sux! ….and I’m cold!
Is this normal for an aluminium radiator or could I maybe have a problem such as a stuck thermostat?
