I am having a strange problem with the Verada. It is leaking water like a bitch somewhere around the water pump and housing. It leaks into the valley filling it with water until it either runs down the front or out onto the transmission.

I have replaced the intake tube o-ring to no avail. I pulled it apart today and all I can see is a big pile of rust in the valley where it has been leaking for years!

Basically, does anyone have an idea of what else could be causeing it and does anyone have a V6 pulled apart where they could show the components of the water pump, the service manual is an absolute joke on this.

That is what I'm thinking of (replace the water pump). I have a spare one here for the V6 Exec I have (along with a belt, was going to do both at once). Problem is I am not too keen on pulling the belt off, I havent had much to do with belt driven engines.

yeah it gets easier as you do it like 8 times
Jack up the car and put something like a block of wood on top of the jack to spread the weight of the engine.
Take off engine mount.
Make sure its at TDC for piston 1
You can check this by taking off all timing covers and matching up all 3 notches, i.e. match up cam gear with the plate with the notch behind it..
also one on the crank pulley.
should take about 7 hours give or take to change it all.
as long as all marks are lined up and the belt is properly tensioned it should crank over first time without a hassle

could also be leaking from the heads

i would get it checked at a workshop.
most workshops wont charge you to tell you whats wrong and they can put a pressure tester on it.

These have a common habbit of the metal pipe from the rear of the pump corroding, usually on the bottom so even with the manifold removed it can not be seen.

DO NOT use any sealant on the "O" ring, this will make it impossible for hte next person to get it off and the assy is designed to move when the engine moves as well as when it heats and cools

Take off your manifold, remove this pipe and check it.

End of the day best way is to first pressure test and see if you can then locate, this pipe is usually the culprit as if it is your water pump there will be no issues with coolant leaking to the trans end of the motor, you will mainly see it under and also gathering on top of your oil filter.

my guess is water pump. Mine had a slight leak and was collecting in exactly the same place. Had it all changed when i got my timing belt done.

I should of been a bit clearer. I have pulled the pipe off to replace the O-Ring, the pipe is fine.
I have the manifold off now, went looking after it still leaked and am unable to find it!

have you tried filing it up with coolant and squeezing the top hose to see where its coming out from?

Yep, only seems to leak when the engine is running

I have the same problem with my V6 manual TS, I changed both O rings on the water pipe ( manuals have 2) and it still leaks so my next step is to take the timing belt off and replace the water pump and the gasket, hopefully that will solve it.At the moment I just fill up the coolant once a day.
