I've been looking at installing a Perma-cool transmission filter kit on my 04 TL.

It's much like an oil filter relocation kit, just without the oil pump plate. My problem is that there's very little space underneath the car, which leads me to think that mounting it in the space behind the bumper on the driver's side would be good, except that the only way to run the hoses to it is to turn the whole lot upside down. I've been reading through various sites, and pretty much everyone says that there's no problem with doing it.

Can anyone think of any issues I might run into?

my 318 has a remote oil filter and it was upside down...

problem is everytime you change the oil, it went all over everything :doubt:

I'm not so worried about mess, it's more the possibility of oil starvation.

dont quote me here but the 200psi or so oil pressure in your trans should be fine...

i have a large trans cooler and its mounted on front of radiator no external extra oil filter other than the stock oil external oil filter on the 5spd autos

as said above the chrylser v8 motors had the filters upside down and i think the landcrusers are the same.

the only problem you may have is the oil light may stay on for a bit longer. as it builds up pressure. to over come this problem try find out if the filter has a 1 way valve in it.

It's for the transmission though, not the engine. Given that the TL doesn't have any form of transmission filter, I'm pretty keen on getting one on there to stop the fluid returning to the filthy state it's currently in...

It's a purpose built remote transmission filter kit, so I'm fairly certain it has an anti-drainback valve in the filter.
