Got a basic EQ Here and im keen on installing it, Now im just wondering if anyone can copy this pic or whatever and just direct me in what way do i connect up all these RCA's!
I thinki know the "outputs" which look straight forward, but yeah how do these inputs work?
I got a paint sketch here of what im working with, if anyone could do a drawing for me of how its hooked up, that'd kick ass

Run a set of RCAs from the headunit front output to the EQ CD input.
Run a set of RCAs from the front and rear eq output to the 4ch amp.
Run a set of RCAs from the headunit sub-out to the mono amp.
Or just don't run the EQ all together.

Yeah someone else told me that too, Why do you say this though?

That EQ only has 1 active input, so you need to decide whether you want to modify your subwoofer signals, or your speaker signals. If you want to modify your speaker signals, hook one of the front/rear pairs of RCA cables into the cd player input from your headunit output, then run the front and rear output from the EQ into your 4 ch amp (doesn't matter which way around you do it as long as the front and rear outputs from your headunit are the same, pretty sure they are).

ooooooook soooo
Does say
Front HU RCA's = Radio
Rear HU RCA's = CD
then
EQ Output Front + Rear = To amp

You would only need one pair of RCAs plugged into the EQ from your HU (front or rear, shouldn't make a difference). Plugging both in won't do anything unless you could have 2 predefined settings for radio and CD, like you'd switch it over to radio for one lot of EQ settings and then CD for a different lot (if that's how your EQ works, but my guess is it only has the 1 set of signal modifiers).
The time i could see you having the 2 input being used is if you had a playstation or dvd player audio out that you wanted to hook into there, but you've probably got RCA inputs on your HU that does this.
*EDIT*
Also just to add, these EQ's are usually used when you only have 1 headunit output.

Marty from FHRX studios says you should run everything off the EQ or nothing !
You would run the RCA's from the sub out of the EQ not the headunit !
Use the remote bass knob to control bass.
this makes no sense at all.....
Front HU RCA's = Radio
Rear HU RCA's = CD
then
EQ Output Front + Rear = To amp

That's fine if you've only got the one RCA out, but the 2 decks i've played with that have 4ch + sub out, is the 4ch's don't output much bass if at all, you could use the remote sub gain if your amp has it, but then your bass boosting a fairly weak signal which i can only imagine would lead to distortion alot quicker. Would also depend on the quality of the EQ, will it filter out enough of the non-bass?

The diagram below is how you are suppose to connect it and no other way otherwise it is pointless having it installed.
Don't use both CD and Radio for the one unit because you can only listen to one at a time.
1 set of RCA's from the HU (front or rear but not Sub rcas) to CD on the EQ
1 set from the EQ fronts to 4ch front input
1 set from the EQ rear to 4ch rear input
1 set from the EQ sub to mono block

Cool, what brand is it ? I just got one off a mate and it also has CD and Radio inputs. Connect it up as MicJaiy said and what you could do is connect another set of RCA's to the radio input and have them somewhere so when you you want to connect something random, you can do it easily.

what micjaiy said is the best way to wire it, but remember if u do... u loose all front/rear fade control from the HU, u'll have to stop, climb in ur boot, turn the knob then keep driving.
personally i wouldn't bother using it. if ur worried about the sub signal, sell the eq and get a line driver.

Well, yeah from head unit but it can still be controlled from the EQ :)

Yeah im not going to worry about putting it in, had a chat to micjaiy and he straightened me out, Im just going to save for a much better HU which i think is the way to go :D
Anyone wants this EQ?
Ill post it out $50..

Sorry to dig up an old thread from the grave but Micjaiy was kind enough to give me his Clarion and Soundstream EQ's and now im really confused.
I'll be pissing off the TV cause this will look way cooler and i never use the TV anyway.
Anyhoo.
Going off the diagram Micjaiy put up, if i had 2 EQ's, how do i go about it?
Do i use one for the fronts as described there, and for the sub, run the sub out from the HU to an input on the EQ, and then from the EQ sub out to the mono?
this makes me confuzzled

Well yeah actually, sums it up well.
Also so now i dont need to worry about the sub-out on my HU?
Cheers for that :D

:)
How in gods name do i mount these?
Basically im using the verada console, which, instead of 2 separate DIN's its one large square cutout.
I'm sure i can mount the CD player ok......should i just double-sided-sticky-tape them to each other?:P

yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyyoyo questions peeps.
Put the EQ's in, they seem to work.
Now when i turn it all off (i have everything on the EQ set to low for now) i get a MASSIVE ALMIGHTY THUD from the sub's
Like, really freeken massive, not just the usuall pop sound.
Now on the soundstream EQ it says it boosts the voltage up to 10V (up from my JVC's 2V) (No idea what the clarion is) So would this have something to do with adjusting the amps for it?
help pleaseeeeeeeeeee

you're hearing the discharge of the amps once they lose their remote signal.
Sounds like you need to do a little tuning of your system - i.e. matching the pre-amp voltage from your EQ into the pre-amp in on the amp (i.e. the gain).
Pretty sure I've read a thread about it somewhere around here (maybe do a search), but essentially,
1. find a source with music/sounds you listen to often and in particular, one with high extremes (bass, etc)
2. drop the gain right down on your sub amp.
3. power up system and adjust the volume control on your source (HU) to full. The EQ will probs also have a volume control and/or sub output - crank these to max
4. set the frq gain to max on both
5. watch and listen to the sub as you adjust the gain on the line in. you should set it to just before the point where the sub starts to distort or 'flap' around.
that should help sort out the line voltate and *should* reduce the discharge noice, but yeah, you'll still get a slight one.
also check that the earthing on the amp is good whilst your there - just for good measure.

Cheers mate!
I thought it would have something to do with that as now it'll be getting a much higher voltage (i presume anyway)
Nah the grounds will be the best you'll ever find. Bolted to the chassis. no chance of ever coming loose :D
I'll try that mate.
Also how do you tune it without going ****ing deaf?

did you turn down the gains at the eq's?
also turn down the gains at the amp aswell and start from there
Otherwise i'll come to your place after work one day to tune it up.

Hey also, on the SS one, theres MAIN and AUX IN, wasnt sure what to put it in as on the diagram you labelled it CD in.
Now im only getting sound from the front right from the clarion...
*sigh* let me know when your free...i really do not know how to tune an amp :)

What brand is that amp that you're running the sub off? Most amps have soft turn on/off circuits to avoid problems like that.
