Ok, stupid stupid idiot retard righty went through a car wash listening to the radio, so now i have a bent antenna that wont go all the way back in, what's worse, is that it's the second time i've done it this year!! I really don't wanna fork out another, whatever it costs to get it fixed, i'd rather just avoid the problem from happening again - by removing it completely!
Now, I know a few people have done it and smoothed over the area, i'm not all too fussed about that, what i'm thinking is just switch off the motor that drives the antenna up, and removing the antenna and then just putting the top bit back in to keep the hole covered up..
I did a bit of a search but couldn't really get a straight answer through the bundle of crap, so i ask to all the people who have done this, on how to do it! My car is in the panel shop at the moment so i'll be doing this next weekend, but want to get some ground work done.
What i need to know is;

How to turn off the automatic motor the drives the antenna up/down when the Tuner is turned on.
How to remove the antenna without damaging the inside - i remember hearing something about teeth for the motor, and if you try to rip out the antenna you can screw all the motors inside? - I don't want to ruin the thing because i might get it fixed later on
Will i still get reception? If not, can i just attach any old wire to it somewhere and run it up inside my car? - i did rear about ones you can stick on the rear window too
is there anything else i should know before i attempt doing this?

Any help and advice would be appreciated, cheers.

all i can answer is there is a plug on the antenna pull it out and it wont go up when you turn the radio on....

easy to remove too just pull back your boot carpet and go nuts lol

with the antenna retracted i get good reception both am and fm in melbourne

There would be a wire on your HU that triggers the power antenna to go on with the radio???
usually a blue wire, But i mean just check your HU user manual for it..
Actually PM Tim about it too

by looking at getting my head unit out, and looking at opening it up in the back, i decided to go with the boot option... however, now i'm a little stuck.

Which plug do i pull out? haha. I'm assuming plug A, but the wire from that runs to the same place the the wire for the fuel release thingo goes, so i didn't wanna try anything till i knew, also, what the hell is plug D ment to do? it's just there with nothing plugged into it.. Also i'm assuming B&C are the actual aerial parts?

Also, after doing that, how do i remove the actual antenna from the socket thing? do i just rip it out of the top?

This might sound stupid, but just pull one by one out and stop when the antenna stops rising?

I ran an inline switch uneath my steering wheel to turn it on and off manually.

Either give that a go or find out what aerial a BA falcon has as I'm sure its an internal one.
