Long time lurker here...
I had been looking at getting myself a Magna for ages as my first car. I love the look of them, it's something different to all the typical VS/VT commodores that my mates have, and I really enjoy driving my parents magna on my L's. Originally, I was going to be able to drive our magna on my P's (when it wasnt being used) until I could afford to buy/found the car I wanted. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in June, but as a result of this we have an extra car in the house. My mum is now going to sell our Daihatsu, buy herself a new medium sized car, and I will get the Magna.

At the moment, its a completely stock 2001 TJ Executive. I think it may have got tinting done when we bought it, but its not that dark so eh~.

First things are to remove the exective badge (the Magna one already fell off somehow :confused: ), then a new headunit + speakers. My sisters boyfriend has a spare sub he got off ebay which he doesnt use, so said he'll just pass it on to me. I wasn't really interested in a sub, but if its free, why not!
Eventually, I want to do the usual KJ Veradi grill, dump it, then choose some nice rims... all in time however. I still need my P's too! (hopefully within the next month, damn waiting times..)

Well I picked up my 2000 Verada Ei a few days ago and I am LOVING it!! It was planning on getting a Magna, but I found this one last Thursday on eBay, went and had a look Friday, and was driving away Saturday! Managed to negotiate down to $7500 which I am very happy with considering this thing basically has the works! Cruise, climate control, 6-stacker CD, spoiler, 16" alloys. And it is so comfortable!! I was surprised to find the seats were so comfy, and the ride on this this car is great, yet still sporty. Has 112k on the clock which isn't too bad. Only thing it needs is a machining of the front discs (slight vibration) and a bit of touchup on two small scratches and she will be great!

My plan is to lower it and put 19" wheels on it (money permitting :P) I'm picking up my plates that I had on my Barina that the RTA generously held for me for a week for $70.

My car. its my first car and i know its a family car but i love it. I get a fair bit of sh!+ from my mates for it to but its the best

I own a 98 TF Solara manual, which I bought new
Just hit the 237k mark and am now starting to spend money on her.
Some specs.

Pedders sports riders all round
Most of the bushes replaced with nolathane
2" drop, pedders springs
(All done by Adam out at Penriff Pedders)

Just started to install a ralliart interior that I laid my hands on.
Driver seat is a sweet seat, mine was stuffed...

Replaced one gearbox sofar, blew the diff in the first.
Now has a manual out of a 2000 model.

AU chaser rims.

Thoughts and expressions welcome, this is the 3rd, 3rd gen ive had. 1st a TF Advance, then a manual TH sports with whiteline kit and exhaust(omg what a machine) and now after a quick bad trip to a EF falcon I'm back with a lovely, cheap TH Solara Advance(had it since sept but only today bought a digi cam). Has usual feats ie; cruise, a/c, abs, dual SRS.

I welcome opinions etc on this topic reply so feel free, good or bad.....

I paid $4.5k for this car(ebay), had 170,000 klms all books/servicing etc.
Soon as I bought her, changed oil to Penrite HPR10, dropped and flushed the trans and filter, new air and fuel filter and new tyres to the front. put in an Alpine deck and JBL front speakers(came with advertised stereo removed, yep got ripped a beauty). And recently replaced globes with the new Phillips Power2Night globes.

Everything seemed to work well, and has proven true as in 7 mths it now sits on 205,000klms(35,000klms in 7mths).

It has Monroe struts, KMAC springs (fitted before buying), is in need of bushes to front sway bar and lower control arms(about to be done). On the cards asap - new dizzy cap. dizzy rotor, camshaft seals/timing kit, ignition leads and all plugs changed to iridium type.
I'm stoked with her for the price its a daily driver(with two kids) so it cant be too wild...

Near Future Mods include -

Change to Vic rego(lol) -
Front bar respray -
Clear side indicators -
Carputer/amp/speakers -
17" rims and Goodyear NCT5 Eco 225/50zr17 tyres -
Extractors and new cat(bit smelly) -
New KYB struts, King springs and whiteline strut brace -


Dream mods(now tell me if this is practical or not) -

TJ-on 5 speed auto -
6g75 block (from 380) with Mivec GTO non turbo DOHC heads running Wolf3d and custom programming.
380 extractors (modded to suit TH) -

My ultimate goal is to have a nice SQ sound system, and basically just keep up the whole "loungeroom on wheels" sorta feeling that the interior of this car has. You'll never see anything overly flashy, like neons, stickers, chrome wheels, etc. as I like to keep my cars as smooth and stealthy looking as possible.

you have done the windows SO well! when the windows look spotless the rest of the car folllows hehe. That is one really nice looking magna you have

if anyone wants a tip, use meguiars window cleaner in pink/red bottle. smells like bubblegum and makes the windows very clean. great for removing tree sap

should use rainex! That stuff is amazing..

Mate I just bought a 10K TJII, and it took me years to save up for the first car (won't say the name because of shame sold it and made a profit, and saved some more, and thats the only way I could afford my 10k magna you're on L's with a VRX?! Nice clean interior - unbelievably well kept. Looks absolutely immaculate!! The dealer had detailed my car, before I bought it and it not even half as good inside. None of the paint has come off the console, and everything is in tip-top shape. The person who had it before must've treated like its out of gold or something. I'm super jealous of the Climate Control and the Door tweeters!! :D :P

Outside looks in good nick too ;) Its a very nice canvas to start on. Have a look at Perry's ride for some insipration. You enjoy it mate!

This is mine, TJ 02 Sports, Only changes are a nice big pair of spotties mounted on the front, aftermarket head unit and 2 12" ~500 RMS.

Don't really have the money for anything until i've payed it off in 5-6 months or so, and out of warranty.

Had it for a little over 1 1/2 years, 48000 on the clock when i bought it.

Typical 'Sports' model/package, Tweeters in the doors/sports exhaust etc, Not terribly sure of the full set of features it comes with over a more standard model.

We just bought up a Magna the other day, and I've had heaps of q's to ask, but getting activated here took a good three days, which I suppose is good, considering all I could do is lurk and figure some things out.

Anyways, here's my ride. 97 Magna TF Executive. Aside from some very slight pits in the paint up around near the antenna, the thing is pretty damn immaculate. So far, I've replaced the head unit with a decent Pioneer unit, so the sound is much better.

Traralgon. Honestly, right now, it's just about getting everything up to snuff. I just posted a thread about my tranny, and I'm looking to get that addressed. Beyond that, a simple boost in the audio system, nothing too fancy. Basic upgrade of the speakers to some decent 3-ways all around, and a single 10" for a touch of kick.

I'd like to go as dark as legally possible on the tint all the way around.

I'm just learning about the Magnas, in the US they're known as the Diamantes, which I've always liked, but never really looked at.

So, on the modding tip, probably nothing major but who knows? Time may tell.

I have a 2005 VR Sports wagon, auto tiptronic, with the following mods
-Full custom rear enclosure, floorboard wood floor, 2 subs, 3 amps, 2 6x9's in tailgate, 2 6" splits in enclosure, strobe/disco lights, all trimmed in tan leather
-Custom LED downlight setup in roof, 6 sets of 20 LED bundles all up
-amps under each of the front seats, 6" splits up front, 6" splits on rear doors
-colour coded dash and surrounds, in the same factory pearl white as the exterior of the car
-billet gear knob and handbrake, chrome selector surround
-10% tinted windows
-lowered on ultralow king springs with sportsrider monroe shocks
-basic cat back exhaust, sounds ok
-soon to tint tail lights and indicators in front bar
-20" versus wheels in chrome with dish :), thinking about painting centres pearl white and leaving dish and lip chrome??

This is my Beige (Kashmir) 1996 TE Exec 3.0L Auto, owned it since October 2005. I'm planning to lower and colour code it. It has factory fitted cruise control.

Mine's a 2003 Mitsubishi TL Magna ES with 99,400km on the odometer atm. It has 17" RJR brute mags and a TL VRX spoiler. I have fitted an awesome $600 sound system which contains a JVC MP3/WMA aux in head unit, fusion reactor 220w 6.5" fusions in the front, 350w 6x9" kenwoods in the rear, a 12" 800w kenwood sub in a sealed box in the boot pushed by a 300W pioneer GM-3200T (i think thats the model no.) amp. It is a tiptronic 4sp of course but want to get a manual convertion (as per my other thread). However I decided I won't get the manual conversion. I am planning on getting it lowered 1 inch (at least), a sports exhaust from the cat back, maybe a 4ch amp to push the kenwood 6x9's as well as the sub and possibly some sort of body kit. U can see pictures of it in my profile and on my signature. I will post some more though.

just new to the forum....actually signed up to get some technical advice.

Here's a picture of our Magna - 1997 TF Altera. Nothing special....... It has 87,000 kays on it. Drives beautiful, only had it a week. I did have an Altera LS many years ago but unfortunately had to sell it. Been driving a 91 Lancer since then, but came back to the Magna.

Went to the wreckers at Blacktown yesterday and got some bits for it - they have a few out there (Pick n Payless).

Hi all. My first post here. This is my VR-X I bought 2 weeks ago - traded my old busted Camry. Have liked the TJII VR-X from the first time i laid eyes on one. Have been a MMAL and Chrysler Aust fan for a while ... years actually. This VR-X was built in July 2002 which is 34 years and 1 month after my other toy that came down the same production line in June 1968. :)

Hi everyone, new here and new first car owner.
This is my 2000 TH Magna Sports, 3.5L version.
Everything is either standard or is a factory modification (for now).
Broke after buying this not long ago so hopefully when i can get some money together i can modify it.
Any ideas for this type of car or tips would be greatly appreciated.

hey there all have done a bit of work since i last posted my ride,ive added lowered king springs,sports exaust and muffler,aftermarket microtech ECU,larger injectors,sports airfilter,port and polished heads.anyway heres a couple of more photos.cheers all!!!Got a bit more to go yet.
