well i finally got my TH converted to manual, and i must say... "OMFG it rules!"
bravo to the installer i might add.
now the problem i have now is when i start the car (hot or cold), it will start up in which the revs will go up like normal, then the car will stall. a can re-start it without any problems after that. this does not happen all the time, but the majority of the time it does.
and sometimes, the car will actually go to stall...the revs will drop to zero for a split second and then it will start up again and run fine...
does anyone know what could be the problem?

3rd gens do funny things when the battery is on its way out. Lots of places do free battery checks...... can't hurt to get it tested.

can i check the battery myself with a multimeter?

That would be testing the alternator.
Check the idle control motor, sounds like what mine was doin til i got it replaced. Must be a common prob cos to find a replacement one was a bit tough
they would have had the battery disconnected while they put in the new gearbox, its probably just relearning still.. mine took ages to relearn, probably like a tank and a half before it stopped stalling.
as for testing it yourself.. dont test with the car on.. test the voltage right after youve been for a drive, it should read 12.3v MINIMUM. then test it again a few hours later, and if its dipped any more than about 0.1v, then you battery isnt holding charge properly and might be worth replacing.

My TJ'S battery was on the brink and I got all sorts of stalling and engine warning lights. So its a worthy thought.

Stalling,
Definitely look at the battery.
Had the exact same problem. Originally thought it was the ISC.
Took car to my friendly MITS dealer, 1 new battery later, stalling problem gone.
It is now nearly a year since with no repeat of the problem.

hmm....sounds like a battery test is a must from the sounds of things. started it 4 times today and it stalled every time...

ok, so heres the update.
went for a drive and then turned the car off. the battery read 13.4v. left it for about an hour and tested it again, now reads 12.4... is this an acceptible voltage?
new problem came up, and that was when i drove the car this morning, everytime i took the car out of gear (changing gears and stopping in traffic) the car would stall.
it was like the idle was way too low.
this happend everytime to and from my destination.
got the car home and looked under the bonnet and found there was a loose earth wire. loose as in not even put back on. it was the wire that bolts onto the thermostat area, near the intake. anyone know what that wire earths? and if that could have been the problem?
