Hi, my mate recently fitted a new speedo/tacho template in his cluster and now he reckons the temp gauge goes straight to hot when starting the car, even for a cold start.

I know its possible he might have refitted the needle in the wrong position but he said when the car is turned off, the needle sinks as low as it can go....

Is there a possible fault which causes this?

Thanks in advance!!!

EDIT: He has a TR/TS 4cyl

Probably could have pushed the needle down too hard and far, if it goes down below the C. Best way is to warm the car up to normal temp, take the needle off, wait a few seconds for the gauge to settle itself then refit needle to 1/2 with the ignition on, (assuming it used to sit on 1/2 mark constantly), or have the engine running for better accuracy.
The needle shouldnt be pushed down hard at all. Just gentle enough so when the ignition is switched off, needle comes to rest around the top or middle of the "C".

Thanks for the advice, he ended up fitting the needle too high as he forgot when the ignition gets turned on, the needle moves up to begin with .

But your idea was the next step :)
