View Full Version : Security Light
Hi,
Today i went to my car and unlocked it with the remote as usual. Now when i hopped in the green security light was still on. I noticed that it didn't go off until you turn it to ON and it turns off like other other (ABS, SRS etc) lights go out, after a while.
I get home and turn off the car, the light is instantly back on again. Is something busted? If something's busted i want to know quick as i only have a week or so on the statutory warranty.

Id say take it back asap. My security light comes on when i lock the car, and goes off as soon as i unlock it.

I have always wondered if there was a way i could get that security light to stay on or flash when the car is locked.
Seems pointless to only come on for 10 seconds when you lock it then go off. Who does that deter?
I wish mine did what yours does as long as the alarm is still working ok.
Anyone know if this is possible? I'm guessing not or it being a big headache.

it does seem pointless if it goes off i would take it to a auto elec and see if they can do something to maybe get the light to stay on and make sure the alarm works fine and hasnt got a fault
The security light in the dash is only an indicator that the system is armed to the driver.
It is controlled by the ETACS (or what ever the new generation system is called). There is
a separate red LED on the centre console (on mine, its part of the audio system) that
flashes.
yeah i have a red light on the audio system that flashes until i put the key in.
Anyways i called up a mitsu service centre, the first guy i spoke to (not a mechanic) said "nah i wouldn't worry about it" i called back later and spoke to a mechanic who said "it does mean there is a problem, bring it in and we will look at it."
So i spoke to the car yard i bought it from and they said to take it in and then if its broke they will fix.
The strange thing is the light got dimmer and dimmer and it has seen to go out. Will still take it in, and if there's no problem i will probably be paying for the diagnostic fee, and that's cool with me.
Just an update because i know you are all dying to know.
Over the next few days the light got dimmer and dimmer and then eventually went out. Mitsu looked at it and gave it a clean bill of health.
