hey guys just got my body kit fitted and painted less than 2 weeks ago and the paint is starting to peel on the driver side wheel arch. i have had a few very minor scrapes and as the front bar is plastic it would flex. would flex cause this or poor workmanship by my panel beater?????

Bit of both really, if its prepped and applied properly the paint should be ok for a bit of flex but everything has its limits.:)

Yeh poor workmanship mate - my front did similar thing as well (lasted a lot longer than that though). This time I went to a much more reputable paint place and the finished job was fantastic (cheers Asylum for putting me onto him lol)

that should never happen after any amount of time. i reckon they have not plastic primed the bar properly before applying the paint. has it only happened on the edges or the whole bar? if its just the edges, the painter probably didnt bend down and spray the edges when plastic priming(lazy, no excuse). i've had apprentices do this and they have had their ****s kicked when the paint came off. if its coming off the whole bar i would question whether its had any plastic primer put on it at all. ALL raw plastic parts need plastic priming before paint is applied as the paint will not stick to untreated plastic. take it back and get them to fix it.
dont let them give you any excuses, a million bucks says its my first explanation.

What he said, doesn't look like they've plastic primed it properly. Same thing is happening to my front bar.

yeah when i did my bar again the panel shop did an extra thick clear coat to reduce stone chips and the finish was like glass it was that shiny. but i hit a parking stop 6 months later and it only caused stress fractures in the clear coat. it didnt peel. so even if u did hit something it shouldnt peel like that.

yeah, similar thing happened when we had our body kit done, they just didn't prime it properly. We went back to them and said is this right? The guy had a look, then booked us in and they re-did the area's free of charge and without hassle.

bloody oath. dont let them charge you anything for it regardless of what the paint rep says
(sounds like crap anyway, i reckon it was poor prep work rather than a paint fault.)
