Hi Guys,
After browsing around for 4/5 weeks, I finally have found a Magna that possibly comes with a LPG compatible engine. Its a Magna TJ advance 2003 with 65K on the odo. Comes with climate control and alloy wheels in addition to other standard feature like 3.5 V6 and trip auto. Body color silver/pewter. Will go to have a final look on LPG and test drive in this weekend?
The guy is asking for 12.5K. I am thinking to offer 11K at most. Any thought on the price? Does 11K sound too high for a TJ Advance with 65,000 on the odo? Mind you its in WA.
Thanks in advance.

redbook has the '03 TJ II Advance with 60k - 100k kms listed at $9200 - $11500.
it's at the lower end of the kms, so $11k sounds about right. if it's in mint condition, it might be worth a bit more, but $12500 is a bit much.
cheers,

The problem is Verada does not come with a standard LPG compatible engine. Its not so easy to find a car with LPG compatible Engine.

and its an auction
$12500 does seem a bit high for just an advance... that nearing rada/vrx/sports prices, but the k's are good. whats the difference between lpg compatible and non compatible engines? advance would have same engine as exec, and same engine as verada... wat differs to stop the verada from getting lpg?
(in fact i've seen a member on Mogwa with a ralliart running dual fuel)

Thats Mitsu's funny policy. They say lpg compatible engine comes with specially hardened valve seals and other relavent engine parts suitable to run on lpg , so theoritically a lpg compatible engine is likely to last much longer. Other than these hardened parts all V6 3.5 lt are pretty much the same.

As far as i've heard, the only difference are the valve seals. "non-lpg" engine doesn't mean it can't run lpg, you'll most likely just have to replace the seals sooner, and when you do, just throw in the lpg ones. Too easy :).
As for the OP, I'd say around $12k if it's in mint condition.

thats what i thought lol have u called up some of the LPG conversion places? as i said, guy on Mogwa with a ralliart is running dual fuel no probs, i dont reckon they made those ready to run on LPG ;) i'm sure the mechanics could alter the parts involved fairly easily, and would make ur search a hellova lot easier ;)

Also guys, the TJ advance I am talking about comes with alloy wheels and climate control. Alloy was originally optional with advance. Do alloy wheels make a noticable difference in terms of performance?
Does the car deserve better price because of alloy?

not really, it just means it has rims, and not stock steel wheels with hub caps ;)

climate control is standard on the Advance. the alloys were an option, but not worth much at all (if they're the standard 15' ones). like I said in my first post, $11k would be a good buy, $12.5k is too much.

Anyone has any idea how good/bad is Magna TJ on dedicated LPG when comes to cold starting?
Isn't it a good idea to go for duel fuel (start on petrol then switch to LPG) instead of dedicated LPG considering the cold starting issue?

My wife has a 97 magna and we put it on gas earlier this year and my friend has a 96 advance and did the same and we have had no issues. Its a little more sluggish on acceleration but thats it.
