Howdy all;
Im looking at building a new sub inclosure and i was looking for some advise.
My plan is to make a false wall between the ski port and the wheel well and mounting either 1 or 2 subs(depending on the funding available) and still be able to access the spare wheel with out removing the whole thing
So my questions are:
1. How does one go about constructing one of these? (plans of already constructed ones for a TS would be greatful but not essential)
2. Do you need and enclosure (box) on the back or can it just be a free standing board?
3. How do you secure it to the floor?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Unless the subs are made specificly for free air playing, then you will need to enclose them somehow.
If I were you i'd create an MDF cutout of your boot, and encorporate some sort of door in the floor for you to access the spare wheel (what i've done).
Then the beauty of having the MDF floor in your boot, you can mount amps/subs/boards to this and not have to worry about drilling into your chasis.

Ive just finished my Flase floor Andy, so i can do some measurements of that and email them to you or something, i have 2 x 12"s in a box behind it which can totally come out (the whole is removable) and 2 side panels with the Mitsu diamond Embossed in it.

I had a 'wall' in my 3rd gen previously as well. What you'd need to do is build an enclosure suitable for the sub(s) you're using and mount that soildy to the floor. With my 3rd gen I had (TF) there were metal clips that were bolted into the chassis on the boot floor. These clips prevent the panel and carpet on your boot floor from moving when you access the spare wheel. (I know, sounds a bit confusing, need a pic to describe it best)
Anyways, since these metal clips are just screwed into the floor u can take them off and there are holes there for you to mount your sub box onto. The holes are plastic threaded, but its ok, because your box would be subjected to mainly lateral movement, horizontally, which will be ok.
As for a 'wall' looking thing on the back, you will need another piece of mdf, and trace out the shape you want. Dont' forget to make provisions for the boot hinges when they come down. Cut slots in them. You can attach this to your sub box, cutting out holes for the sub cone/basket if you need to. U can either permanently attach it with nails, screws, glue, or use a lot of velcro (which is what i did) so you can remove it later if you need.
You will need to make a cutout of the floor in MDF (use your carpet to trace it). I used door hinges attached to my sub box for this.

Besides attempting to mount free air subs is there any other specific reason you would like a wall? Or is it for cosmetic?
