I'm trying to puchase one of of these kits on ebay, not sure if it's a good idea or not...

Please excuse the chinglish, if you want a more easily comprehensible description just search for HID in ebay and look at one of the other listings.

Also does anyone know what type of headlights my car's got already? I need the number in order to replace them. Its a 1998 TF Magna sport.

Has anyone bought one of these kits before? If so how do you find it, what color temp do you recommend (im thinking 8k or 10k), and is the high/low beam satisfactory? Its hard to tell but what I gather is that they use the same globe, and just adjust its position magnetically when you need to use high beam. Thanks for any advice

It has all been proved not worth it pretty much in a thread made by the name of Heathyoung.

It was recently accidentally deleted by a slipping finger of a moderator lol.

sorry mate

damn it has gone, wonder if there was a backup or wiki :(

yeah as will said, its best to just go for Phillips Diamondvision (i think), but none of the HID kits are recommended, and can actually have detrimental effects on ur headlights. google 'hid facts' or something similar, look at site made by ppl who arent selling them, and u'll get the facts about them. makes for some interesting reading, and makes u avoid them like the plague ;)

Heres a thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49471&highlight=hid) that was posted recently, similar to ur question, and was answered given the knowledge from the guide that used to be around! have a read and try some of the links.

hope that helps somewat, but imo dont buy those ebay HID kits :)

The entire 3rd gen magne headlamp FAQ is hosted elsewhere - there is a magna FAQ page somewhere, when I get 5 minutes back at work I will copy it back up from here to be stickied...

Short answer - no, dont get it - you get better light from overwattage bulbs (narva 90/100 H4's) complete with relay harness, fuses and phenolic bulb holders. Use this combo on my car at the moment for the past year with no problems - no damaged reflectors, wiring etc etc. Would NOT recommend using overwatts with the stock wiring, you get less light (due to voltage drop) and a nice(?) orange light. Blerk!

Try Philips Vision Plus, good upgrade on stock wiring.
